loved having a peek at this...

Really interested to see lots of bits that are very similar to the z4m's s54 unit.... the vanos, the vanos hubs, sooooo interesting.... Having seen my motor in pieces, i can concour, they are wonderfully designed motors the ///M power units...

sit back and enjoy....

Cracking little Snippet. Now we know where to go for a referbed VANOS, when the rest of the world has run out of bits.

15 US gallon fuel cell, 567 HP V12. Maybe 30 minutes of driving.

But $40,000 USD for the exhaust. Man O man. Do they just make up those numbers as they go. You can buy Titanium exhaust tubing in the US for $20 per foot RETAIL. And as these are not mass produced. McLaren certainly didn't have to fork out millions for an automated machine to make them. So 100 Ft of tube is $2k at todays prices. Parts markup is normally about 100%. Given that 100% markup would mean a labor charge of $19k or so to weld that pipe. Not sure what a F1 assembler was paid 20 years ago. But it must have been a lot.

Maybe this would be a good topic for debate. Does it really cost a manufacturer more to hand build a low volume car as opposed to investing hundreds of millions of dollars to set up an automated assembly line.

They will be factoring the research and development for that part into that guestimate price I wouldn't doubt.

I had a friend that worked in design for Mercedes. He said the cup holder in the A class had over 200 hours of research and development....... For a cup holder!!!!
