To me, its not proper Lego, if all the peices are moulded to shape to make one thing. - Thats an Airfix Model.

Lego should be universal parts that make you use your imagination and creativity. Thats what I had to do back in ....( let me think )1970-75 maybe ?

Have to agree, I have lots of the original technical Lego which is the same as old Lego but with holes in

Oh, and keep up at the back :poke: :D

Exactly. When you got some lego technic box in the old days it wasnt the challenge to build the model. The challenge was what else could you build with it?
That's probably fairly limited with this kit. I mean what other purpose have the bricks that are molded in the shape of a suitcase?

 lack of toy manufacturers and money 40years ago, so you just built your own slightly blocky multi colored version.

I reckon Lego should be a compulsory part of schooling from 4 right up to 16, i remember a uni lab for mechanical eng pulled out the Lego and dry spaghetti to build bridges :)

Will one of you master builders do a zed and get it Lego published, and get them to make carbon/sapphire black bricks :)

not quite a Zed but the missus got me this for Xmas

Lol! Saw this post just as Mike was showing me the video from Lego......I hope he actually builds this one if he gets it. The mini I bought him is still in the box :x

Now I may sound like an old frump but without stating the obvious... At 8 yes I used to cobble three pieces together and believed they were Falcons, Starfleet etc. something fighting against an enemy of other coloured bricks. At 10-12 I built fast cars with elastic bands, tanks, houses... anything with 50-100 bricks and hold massive battles for hours on end. Then at 14, I discovered (thank to my parents  ) home computing by the away of a Dragon 32. Did some (limited) programming as well as played lots of games! Spin on 30-40 years to now, sound familiar - parents introducing their kids to computer games! This thread has inspired me to buy two or even three lego sets for my kids on Christmas Day 2016. I am turning that darned WiFi off and I am now intending to run a competition and get the whole family involved by the evening to finish what the kids have started. Wishful thinking, it could go wrong, but at least the kids will be manually engaged in assembling something throughout the day which may involve 800+ bricks each - not 50-100. Get their nimble fingers and brains working at least...

Being totally selfish, I love this - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmJ5EkCEtB4.. and I will eventually hang these from the ceiling of my man cave, with Dragon 32 plumbed in and the room totally annexed off from the rest of our house which is another 50 years in the making. I can only dream... like lego.
