Leg room in coupe as against roadster

HI all,

I am looking for a Z4 MC and test drove a roadster close to where I live as never been in one before.
I noticed that the legroom was a bit tight. I am 6ft and had to have the seat right up against the rear bulkhead.
It wasn't uncomfortable but I'd like another inch or two.

Is there more leg room in the coupe or are they the same?

Also the gearbox was stiff. Car had done 22k and was an 08 plate. 1st to 2nd sealed too nothcy even after a good 5/6 mile ride.
Are they all very notch? My old M3 E46 wasn't as bad as this.

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Cheers
Dave

yeahh theyre all notchy especially 1st-2nd, check threads relating to the clutch delay valve...
diff gearbox to the e46 so perhaps slightly notchier..

cant comment on leg room but id imagine they are both the same..

Cheers guys. I thought BMW didn't fit CDV's to m cars... It didn't drive like it had one fitted.
My Alpina D3 does have one and I know the sensation as its takes some getting used to especially when pressing on - I'm getting it modified.

Would be interesting to see if they have CDV's though.... A crime if they do!!!

yeahh they have although im wondering how many of them tht are now for sale already have modified cdv's? must be about 10% of ppl who modify them, seeing as most have exchanged hands at least twice then im assuming having one with a regular cdv will get more rare?

As others have said I would imagine the driving position to be the same.
I'm 6'3" and have don't struggle for legroom in the Zed as I do in loads of other cars though as you say the seat is as far back and as low as it goes.

Good luck with the search

leg room can be improved by adjusting the seat height - if its too low you wont have much room to go back, the bulkhead is sloped so come up an inch or two and you can go back more.

it takes a while to get it right as the seats move/tilt in lots of different ways

Similarly, you may need to sit the back up a little to allow for more leg room.

Removing the CDV will not reduce the notchiness of the 1st-2nd gear change - that is due to the gearbox. However, it will ensure that the clutch engages when you expect it to upon lifting the clutch pedal. This is important when getting on the power swiftly during up changes, and also when double declutching down through the gears. Removing it is easy, but be sure you are doing it for the right reasons :)

I took the CDV out, and havent looked back. Mine's not an ///M but have to agree with BMWZ4MC. Remove the CDV and clutch will engage as you lift your foot off the pedal, and NOT a split second later :headbang:

I'm with RichardG. I'm also 6'3" and can fit in comfortably. In fact, I find the Zed more comfortable on long journeys than my previous car - Jag XF. The summer is coming - roadster all the way!

Same here, a shade under your height but no problems at all. My seat is fully down too. I guess it depends where your height comes from. Some people have longer legs vs torso etc

Tapatalking...

There are not many 2seater roadsters that have the legroom of the Zed.

If the glove fits snug... worth every second of fun. As for the gear change, drove a couple which were notchy between 1&2, mine could be better but on an 05 plate + ZHP + not too enthusiastic changes mines reasonably slick.

Best of luck
