Left side window regulator problem / sourcing question / help please?

Hi to everyone
Wondered if anyone could help please
Had left side( passenger window problem)
bought a repair kit
Stripped door window, and indeed the steel cable had rusted, caused it to snap when jammed
Took off door card, bought new vapour seal ( looks like old one was the problem), removed air bag, and ( eventually removed regulator and motor / whole system ( tricky), to find the replacement repair kit doesn’t fit( despite quoting car Z4 3.0iSE 2004 etc)
It’s the shape of the ( large) white plastic fitting ( with clip & spring) that fits into the regulator- it’s the wrong shape- got refund but so annoyed could not finish the job!
Has anyone else had a similar problem, can anyone suggest where to source the right repair kit as the ones on ebay all look like they come from China and alll the wrong shape
Any help / advice would be greatly appreciated

I was £348 last month for the regulator replacement from Douglas Park BMW in Glasgow. 2 hour job took 4 hours and it was back in on Friday to get adjusted as there was a lot of wind noise. Now fixed.

There's a number of replacement cables on the eBay.

Thanks, but most of the ones I’ve seen on ebay are the wrong shape - see my photo of the one I bought from ebay
Appreciate your reply & the figure you paid is less than quoted by my local dealer

If you do end up going to a dealer then be wary......

That price was from Douglas Park BMW in Glasgow.

Two hour job that they managed to squeeze into 4 hours. Fault codes on the passenger side airbag that weren't there when they started caused the delay. They did fix the error codes issue and had to take it back last week as the muppets hadn't adjusted the regulator and left me with lots of wind noise over 60mph.

Took another hour to fix it last week.

Also, the fantastic service from BMW left me with a car that was washed from the front to the doors, half the doors from the ground up and an untouched back end. Also had nice oily and greasy hand prints on the drivers window. Having spent 4 hours waiting for a two hour job and had to get back to work so didn't take it any further. Did ask them to wash the car in the exact same way when I went back last week. She did start to write down how I wanted the car washed before I stopped her.

Was also advised after the 4 hour wait by a very serious faced woman that my brake pads were down to 11mm and should maybe watch them. Also that I had a bulge in a tyre but they could replace the two front tyres so they were matching.

She was advised that there is f**k all wrong with the brake pads as they were changed in February along with the discs, brake fluid changed and braided brake hoses fitted. As for the tyres I would be straight down to the local place with the Hunter equipment who balanced the wheels about two weeks previously. As I've not hit any potholes or noticed any issues I would get them to thoroughly check the tyres and question why they had not seen any problems.

Had the tyres checked by the guys with the Hunter gear and was advised that BMW were talking out their arse.

When I took it back last week I was told they would need the car for the whole day as it was a big job and they were busy. Aye, dear not my problem. She was advised that being busy was not my problem and that the original replacement of the window regulator was quoted as a two hour job so adjusting it will only take an hour.

Got the car back a hour later.

Interestingly enough there was a guy who had his car in for a service and he had to either take it back or was advised that his three year old BMW needed a coolant change added onto the service costs. 2 days for a service and coolant change?

Would I go back? No chance.

Used a repair kit for mine as meany have done on here. Not aware of anybody having this issue.

Thanks - btw what year was yours and where did you source the kit from please?
Can you kindly look at my original post and look at the difference geteeen the old one and the new one - see plastic bits that go into the regulator

It’s hard to tell what’s in your picture as it’s too close in.

Did mine a couple of years ago and bought from a uk seller

My mechanic tried to use an eBay repair kit but didn't work as a plastic part had broken on original regulator. After messing about for 2 hrs ended up buying a new regulator from Eurocarparts (about £150). My mechanic said the ECP part was a much better and more robust design than the original.
