Left B Pillar Module Defective - Leak

I've got a leak coming from the passenger side door which I believe is the door membrane as suggested by https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=71222
This has caused the airbag warning light to appear as water has got to it. I had to wait a month to have it taken to an independent BMW garage last week. I thought was to have the airbag module replaced by turns out they just did a vehicle health check & charged me £125 even though I told them what airbag module had the issue plus they took the faulty module off & took photos of it only to put it back on and charge me for doing so. I'm going to try to do the work myself as I'd have to wait another month before they'd actually fix it & I'm really not happy with what they've done.
I've got a code reader (Carly) so can pull up codes & clear them but I don't have anything to program it myself so would go to a different garage to have that done. I was told by the garage that if I was to get a second hand airbag module then it'd be really difficult to program it & could cause additional problems. Is this true? As I'm struggling to find someone who sells new ones. Is there a video or guide to access the airbag module? I don't want to be tearing off panels only for them to break

Name and shame them on here so others are warned about their service you experienced.
If you are going to replace the satellite module it must be the same part number as the one you are replacing. It will probably need coding to the car, this can be done using NCS Expert one of the systems that comes with the BMW INPA package of software you run on a Windows laptop. I have successfully coded a main central airbag module on a Z3 when the module packed up using NCS Expert.
Where are you based, you may have someone near you who has the means to code a replacement. When sourcing a replacement its a bit of a risk to get a working unit. The owner of the Z3 sourced a couple of replacement used modules which were locked up by having crash data on them which locks them up preventing them being coded to a car. These have to have the eeprom inside taken off the board and the crash data removed from it using another software package on a laptop that reads and writes to the eeprom chip. Once thats done the module can be programmed to the car using NCS Expert.

I'm based in Cardiff so not far from you. Are you aware of any places that'll be able to do the work? I'll probably just find someone to do the coding/programming as it just goes over my head. Do you know how I access the module? Just don't want to be breaking anything as I'm taking it apart.
Any help or advice very much appreciated

Satellite Module is located at the rear of the passenger seat under the carpet and plastic trim. Not a fan of Carly diagnostics much prefer BMW Scanner 1.4 and my Creator 310+ handheld. INPA is ok but problematic to set up on a Laptop. Can plug you in to my stuff and see whats going on if it needs replacing can have a go at coding it to the car with NCS expert using a matching part number module you will have to find and supply. It will need you Vin Number coded in to the replacement. Away this weekend but back next week not availab;le Monday or Tuesday next week. PM me if you want to set up a visit to me.
