LED H7 Headlight bulbs? Anyone tried these?

well, the bulbs fit in the housing, no problem. but i can't get the original clips to lock the bulb. because the connector & the clip are "one piece" (actually 2). at the moment i'm figuring out if i can get some different clips, or send the bulbs, unused, back to the supplier

the round thin thing in the middle can come off to make mounting more convenient, but it;s to thick to use the original retaining clip.

edit: it looks like i need something like this: https://www.xenonlamp.nl/bmw-e46-3-serie-xenon-adapter think i gonna order this tomorrow/today, and hope the e46 unit fits my Z4

Well you need to remove the bumper cover which is a 10-15 minute job. 5 or 6 bolts across the bottom, 5 torx at the top edge, 4/5 push through rivets each side and a clip on each wing. Guides on here if you're unsure.

Lights a re a straight swap for halogen, but keep your originals for resale time

Just got my steering wheel back from Royals , one of many upgrades suggested by yourself. Have pm'd Machine monkey regarding those tasty exhaust tips. Really enjoying the new "floodlit" interior with the LED'S .
The main worry I have now is how to fund my "wishlist" - as someone recently suggested I would be cheaper buying a new car - probably true but totally missing the point.

Its looking good Stu , the Royal steering wheel certainly looks great, bet it feels so much better, did you have extra padding added to beef it up at all? The strut brace looks good, have you noticed any difference since you have had it fitted?

Yes I got the steering wheel double padded and it now feels like a modern steering wheel, as opposed to the originals very skinny 80's style.
As for the strut brace , totally underwhelmed It looks nice but makes negligible difference. Maybe at race track levels of aggression you could notice an improvement, but in daily use not a jot :|
But what the hell I like it

Forget Osram Night Breaker Ultras or similiar products, they are nowhere as good as LED's. What a difference

The LED's are very bright and well worth the money - no CANBUS faults as there is a built in resistor. I currently have Osram Night Breakers in the full beam and they are nowhere near as bright as the LED's.

Getting back on subject, I've now tried the Osram nightbreakers and have to say they're not really the big improvement I had hoped for. Thanks for the info Zikim I'll maybe see if I can try these. I take it that they fit okay in the standard housing without any problems?

I've never seen an aftermarket Halogen bulb provide anything more than a small improvement in usable light output unless the bulb was over wattage. Over wattage (90-130w) requires heavier wire and relays and depending in the headlight can cause melting of the headlight components.

I'm very curious to see the light output from some of the latest tech LEDs in a Z4 headlight. I've read they don't have allot of distance.

Seems like the jury is out, without direct comparison photos to prove/disprove any claims, it's all a bit subjective.
As I've already forked out for the Osram nightbreakers I'll stick with them until one of them pops, mind you they are all an improvement over the laughable headlight on my Ducati Diavel which must emit 1/2 a candlepower

Ordered another set of brackets which i actually got to work, after some grinding & bending quite impressed with the result, light output seems to be nice in the middle between halogen & xenon, light is bright white, projection is super sharp (better then the halogens). Can't wait to check them out on a dark road this week

you have to "grind??" the middle secton for a 1,5 mm or so to get it fitted with the LEDlight. i did it with a dremel.
