Would'nt plod pull you over for having your fog lights on :?
I already have a speach prepaired about how they are now DRLs as opposed to fogs, and if that fails, i have some friends who are traffic cops, I'll just drop their names and hope for the best

If you wire them up so they come on as soon as you switch the car on, ie no switch control inside the cabin, then also independantly of the rears, then the old bill will have no arguments.

Looks good. I was thinking about this tonight on the drive home as I put my fogs on for that extra help in being seen since it was very grey with lots of water spray. I prefer it when all lights are of a similar colour temperature although white/blue lights are pretty useless in fog.

Going on what I picked up during my foray into the world of Audi. The rules with DRLs are very hard to follow and it is legal to set fogs as DRLs as the Audi diagnostic/coding allows you to activate this. Maybe there's a similar feature on the BMW equivalent.

Looks good. I often thought of this mod with my old grey roadster but never got round to it.

Well done sir

Thanks for the interest but when/if that day comes, I think I'll save the original bumper, so I have to say no :) .

I replaced my sidelights with LEDs a while ago to match the OEM HIDs and it worked fine with no errors. I now want to do the same with my fogs does anyone know if there is a canbus issue on the 2003 Zeds that may give me bulb error issues? I'm guessing not as when I got the car one fog bulb was not working and there were no dash errors. It turned out the bulb was fine and it was just that the the plug was not connected to it. Should an error be visible for an absent or unplugged fog bulb or does the canbus only monitor sides/dipped beam?

Well I'll find out soon enough. Just bought these LED H11 fogs off the bay for £14.50 delivered...

I shall prepare to be disappointed.

LEDs change the whole look of the front of the car. I fully intend to get LED sidelights and fogs when I get the Zed. Rear number plate LEDs are a must too!

Are they canbus ones? Thought the real cheap ones would throw up an error?

Can someone put the links or specs of the bulbs required for sidelights & fogs on a 2007 with xenons.cheers

I replaced the foglight lamps with LEDs some time ago, I forget how many "cells" are on the LED. They look great.
Sure wish I knew how to hook them up to function like DRLs. Anyone know how to do this?

Code for fog lights as DRL is: DRL_TFL_MIT_NSW but the E85 doesn't have this :( :( :(

I mounted a "comfort module" that does it for you, really simple install and you can have your fogs on as soon as you open the car, drive the car and a little after having closed the car, without touching any buttons, so exactly as done in the Volvo's and Mercs... Costs about 120 pound or so (if I recollect correctly). You can also have your indicators blink 3 times upon single touch and you can program your front and tail lights as well... great little upgrade!

For those who want to know more... Here's a topic I made on it with all the details: http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=40688 :)

5050 LEDs are brighter generally than 3528 LEDs, but then if you have four times as many 3528s that will be brighter, for instance.

Each 3528 I think is about 0.08-0.1W, so a 120 3528 is around a 10-12W bulb.

It's an odd system.
