LED Fog light bulbs

I've been using my fogs for running lights. Halogen Bulbs blow every 6 months or so, probably due to the fact that they're getting very hot and not normally meant to be kept on day after day.

I decided to buy a set of LED's. Anyone else used these? Car's in the garage getting a new starter motor atm so I haven't fitted them yet. They're plug and play..fingers crossed.

I've just fitted a pair of Halfords LED fog lights to mine, I don't use them as DRLs so can't really comment on their life!

They do just swap straight for the halogens so very easy to fit, apart from the fact you need to jack it up to gain access of course!

Light is so much brighter... i now need to uprate my pi** poor Halogens to something a bit 'whiter' to suit

Jack up for access? I have an E85 and I simply turn the wheel to access the panel and pop off the door, change the bulb and Bob's your uncle :thumbsup:

Yep, I’ve changed mine to LEDs. Very easy swap, just turn the wheels to allow access via the lower flap of the two at the front of the wheel arch. Unplug the old ones and plug the new ones in. Mine was a bit tricky as the holder had broken on one of the sides so getting it off was fiddly.

I haven't fitted them yet but I've got a feeling they're going to be better than the halogens. I'll let you know when I get the car back which will be a week or so...I looked at the samsung ones but they're not as powerful.

I got these from Bond Express via ebay. Very quick delivery and nicely packed for protection. They're great build quality.

Not to be hijacking your thread but my question is along the same line :)

Does anyone have a link to good quality rear indicator and tail / stop led bulbs for the rear of an e85 pre facelift?

So have you wired up the fogs as DRLs or just running round with side lights and fogs turned on?

Best would be to have the fog lights working independently, or else the problem with standard bulbs' short life is just going to come from the side lights (these are expensive and getting difficult to find). Or the other option would then to go for full LED...

OP or Chris1981 would you be able to post pictures with the fog light LED installed? :thumbsup:

There is no native option to code fogs as DRL (though maybe Intravee can do it?) so it would need a wired solution to get it to work automatically.
 
You might have to check the output as well... if they’re bright enough to dazzle you may have a problem when plod passes you and is dazzled...

I don't use the old bulbs, I get white bulbs from ebay. Cheap as chips..and only the fogs have blown...That's why I've gone down the led fog route.

I'll post a pic when I've put them in.
