LeatherZ armrest

Hi, looking some advice on whether to purchase this for a Z4M. Read a few conflicting comments, negative ones mainly that it can affect the gearchange :!:

Photos seem to look good and the extra storage would be handy though.

My car is Red Leather, also wondering would purchasing the armrest in red leather "be a bit much". Perhaps the black would be a better contrast.

Any thoughts or advice, , much appreciated. :)

I think it's one of those marmite things, to me it would get in the way, what with having a short shift knob as well. I also find the armrest just at the right height for me having the seat as low as it woll go.

Best bet is see if you can find someone near you who has one so at least you can sit in the car and see how it feels.

Perfect height as far as I am concerned and the additional storage for small items is very handy...

If you drive enthousiastically, it would be in the way. Besides, I need to be able to open the centre console properly to get to my ipod which you can not with the leatherZ in place.

Edit to show what I mean (+ phone access).

I am not a fan, but then again I agree it is a marmite thing... mmmm.... marmite!

I'm 6'3" and the seat is as low and far back as it goes, fitted the LeatherZ arm rest earlier in the year and love it, yes it gets in the way of changing gear a little bit but the extra comfort given by it more than makes up for something you learn to drive round.

Oh and as for Marmite

mmm, so we have an interesting pattern here... those who like the armrest don't like marmite, and those who love marmite don't like the armrest... interesting :D

I like them one day but then the next time I see them I think they're ugly - undecided here.

If they had a uk outlet and they were cheaper I may buy them, but at that price (+ del and customs) today for me it's a no, but another day maybe...

x2. I was thinking of getting it but dont like the thought of it being permanant (will BMW/insurance consider this a mod thus voiding my warrenty & insurance?) and also the reported gear change interference.

But I like the idea of something to lean on esp as I'm a shortie and need something to prop me up :D Even though I do like marmite as well :P

p.s. how do tall people manage getting in/out of z4? I'm only 5ft 3 and find it difficult enough :(

There is an art to getting out of the car. First, you don't want to sit on the bolster so you sling your legs out to the ground without touching the bolster. Then using an art best described as limbo dancing, you move away from the seat :D

i'm a shorty and i have an auotmatic, i think an armrest would be great, what sort of price are they and how much of a job to fit?

Price defined by the customs tax ... I got some stuff from the US without customs applied to it, then it was purely the price from the leatherz web site.

With an automatic, I can see the point. Bit of a boulevard cruiser and a place to put your coffee

Interesting indeed. Being a marmite virgin I picked some up on the way home to test that theory.
Looks like I will be ordering the armrest after all..........well once I clean out the sink :sick2:

Just need to decide on the colour now - Red or Black. Interior is Red.

This is true. I dont like the armrest but if it could store a reasonably sized pot of marmite i could well be interested
