I have the LeatherZ armrest and will praise it also! It may not be a perfect bubble, unless you buy the door armrests also, but it is very close so that you do not get stiff driving for long distances :)

I sometimes get stiff when I drive.

And who can blame you with all that power under the hood.

Back on topic.....Someone better show up to the flower thing (i'm going for the company, not the flowers) with the armrest. I'll not buy that until I sit in a car with it equipped.

I found that the leatherz armrest took some getting used to. I've got the short shift-knob, so the raised armrest required me to adjust. I do enjoy having with it now - shifting can now be done in a short-throw flick-flick-flick manner.

While its size holds all kinds of stuff, I would still have preferred that they made the base narrower to better fit the tunnel between the seats. It's difficult to tell from the pics, but its base is kinda wide and gives the impression that the mould was made for another car. On the plus side, the extra width gives enough elbow room for a driver and passenger (if they like each other alot).

I bought one from the very first batch when it first came out in 2004 and installed it on my '04 SMG which of course had the shorter SMG shift knob. Right away I didn't like it because the arm-rest got in the way of shifting. The silver paint on the base also chipped in a few places upon arrival so LeatherZ ended up taking the arm-rest back.

After 3 years I figured I'd give it another chance on my Z4M which now has the ZHP weighted short shift knob (essentially the same as the SMG knob). I drove around for 2 days, and was reminded of why I didn't like it in the first place. I refused to replace the ZHP knob, which makes a huge different in the shifting feel, with the longer stock knob. So again the arm-rest had to go.

We will do better next time: different time, different thread.

Glad you asked. I have it and when driving casually with the hands at 4 and 8 o'clock verses 10 and 2, it's perfect. Thought the two sided 3M tape might not be sufficient to hold it in place but after a couple of months, that stuff seems to turn into epoxy !! It has a short nap carpeted interior base and I enjoy supoorting hand craftmanship. Would buy it again.

The only issue I had was when pulling up the hand brake, it touches the lid of the armrest. I know, wah! I suspect that adjusting the hand brake a little tighter would resolve that minor issue but since I don't park on any steep hills, cranking the hand brake up is not a requirement. And, as noted above, it is a super horizontal fit to the door armrest.

Thanks for this thread. I was looking at the Mark4 armrest this morning and thinking about ordering one for my new-to-me Z4.... I have a 5spd, but I'm fairly small and don't think it would interfere much with my shifting. But right now there just is not place to comfortable rest my arm and I already have enough challenges with my back. Soi this seems a perfect fix!

I was actually considering the version that has the cupholder in the top so I can keep a coffee or water handy. Anyone here have one? It wasn't completely clear to me if that one also opens up for storage...

Thanks!

Hi - I bought one of these just a week ago with the door arm rests too - in dream red. Really liking it so far and don't find it interferes with my SMG shifter. It still gives good access to the storage/cd changer compartment behind. Highly recommend it, so far.

Had mine installed for two weeks now, great addition to the car, somewhere to put my sunglasses that's easy to access.

Dear Santa, I have been a gud boy this year, for Christmas can i pwease pwease have a Weather Z Mark4 Armwest, can i also have matching door paddy fings

I wanted a mark4 armrest in cream with a black base but when i looked at www.leatherz.com the shipping cost was too much to justify a 'nice to have'

In the end i bought a mark4 armrest off ebay and its great, only downside its in Black with a silver base

Anyone know if i can source one in the UK? or a group buy on the cards?
