Leather wear

Hi there,

Just to let you know if you hadn't sorted it, my Zed also had the same problem from wear where I was getting in and out on exactly the same spot and nearly a year old. I took it back to BMW and they re-leathered the whole seat for me! Was quite taken back as they said they were going to repair it but that was a total replacement!

Give the Warrenty a go and Good luck!

I have the same wear on the seat as well. Here is before and afters.

What do you think?

Multiple coats of black shoe polish dabbed and buff with at terrycloth towel. It does not rub off on clothes, does not shine and is a good color match. Just put conditioneer on after it drys for 6 hours. I liked what happened. Most likely will need to do again at some point. :idunno:

No, that is a pic of the drivers seat. The back part is where I was getting the wear. The passenger side had it as well, just not as bad ( less use ).

It works well for me at this point. I will see how it holds up on our trip. I will report back when we get back.

3 years of wear and 96k miles.

I just got my car back a couple of days ago. it took 3 days to get the seats done and now they look brand new. :D
Well, golly gee, they should after being re-upholstered. The only problem is that the guys put in more padding than I think originally came with the car, so I have less bolster and I sit higher in the car. Nope, I can't adjust the seats any further then they are already. Oh, when they unplug the seats, the airbag light comes on, so i ahd to get that reset as well.

Cool Z4

That issue puts some people to thinking. :scratchhead: Yes,Yes, I know, I know, Thinking just gives me headaches. :headbang: :dizzy:

I guess you could always let the new wife drive. :driving: :fuelfire: :stir: :poke:

i am not a fan of leather seats. they are hot in the summer and cold in the winter. i cry when they get cut or scratched. i also have to be very careful about ingress and egress from the car and hate thinking about it every time i go and drive. the only good aspect about leather is that it looks great and emitts the wonderful BMW leather aroma.

i have the m sport leather seats and have leather wear on my side bolsters on both seats.

i dont want to get any of thoes one size fits all ugly print tacky wal-mart seat covers. im wondering if there are any places/websites that sells seat covers specifically for the M sport seats.

any finds??

Premature wear on these leather seats is undoubtedly a warranty issue. I had the full cover replaced under warranty on the M3 when it was 2 years old for exactly the same wear on the bolster. Over on BM3W there were plenty of others who did the same.

Don't accept a refusal from your dealer because there's no way that the leather should wear like that on a car of that age, persevere and they will replace it. Either that or go to a more sympathetic dealer. It's a known issue with BMW nappa leather which simply isn't up to the job.

Cool. So it worked huh Bob? Looks GREAT! I'll be following soon 8)

Hubby rubs his jeans on the driver's seat of my Z4. He is not a thin guy and has a bad back so getting in and out of my Z is difficult for him.

Has anyone purchased BMW seat covers for their Z?

That's a funny Fetish?!

I remember someone had seat covers that were black with red trim, but I forget who it was...
