Leather trim on centre console

My new Z4 has some scratches on the trim and I'm thinking this would potentially tidy it up.

looks good I would get one but I would need to get a matching leather for the dash as mine is aluminium, but it is a big job to remove the old console as the storage compartments behind the seats has to be removed as the centre consol fits under it a bad design I think.

I might give it a try. Since it just sticks on, it may not be necessary to remove the trim to fit it.

there are two screws behind blanking covers one each side on the rear panel into the transmission tunnel if you undo them it may alow you to lift it enough to get the leather under.

You'll still need to remove the 30 or so screws attaching the aluminium trim to the plastic though - it's an all the way out or nothing job unfortunately.

I was thinking the same, may send for one and see - could be worth a punt at 29 squids and if the console has to be removed so be it. Dash could be a problem though, could do with something similar to match it. I was going to carbon fibre wrap mine, not sure it'd match that console cover though

This is correct.

Unless that leather tucks under the Ali it will look shite.

From the pic it looks like it doesn't tuck in, but it's hard to see from the picture. I might send the seller a mail and ask. I can see that unless there is some really accurate cutting and very good right-to-edge adhesive that it has all the potential to look shite!

I contacted the seller and it is necessary to tuck the leather under the trim, so it's a complete trim-off job.

You still need to remove it to do that properly.

Yeah, I do know that! I was just saying that given the choice and seeing as how it's got to come out no matter what, then I prefer it wrapped rather the leather thing.

+1 that leather thing looks cheap anyway, carbon dip looks a lot better then carbon wrap too

If it's fitted correctly it should look good.

More unique than wrapping :wink:

Wrap is fine until you have silly hot days, like the 35c we had the last 2 summers.

Both times, the wrap i applied came away from the aluminium trim.

Possibly more of an issue for roadsters than coupes?
