Leather Treatment

I use dove soap to clean and E45 to soften. £5 all in!
If it's good enough her indoors, then its good enough for the zed! It actually comes recomended by some high-end restorers.

I used to use Gliptone products, but swear they changed the formulas as I noticed a drop in their effectiveness.

I use both the BMW stuff and the liquid leather. The BMW stuff is good for the occasional clean and soften (it also has UV protection in it) but it can build up over time and make the leather a little shiny. When it does this, I use the liquid leather stuff as this is a very good cleaner to remove it all (once every six months or so). My seats are over 5 years old now, in daily use, but still in excellent condition.

Whatever you use, realise that you have polyurethane coated leather seats, not raw leather. So putting something on it that nourishes leather is useless, as it can't penetrate the plastic coating on the leather. It will more than likely break it down and make the seats worse.

So the type of stuff you put on saddles and raw leather is not what you want. You want something that will protect the coating on the leather.

I use a local product called Bowden's Own.
