Leather Renovation using Lederzentrum

To de-stress after a crappy week at work, I spent a happy afternoon treating the leather on my Z4C with my stockpile of Lederzentrum products, available here:
https://www.colourlock.com

First some before and after photos. As usual the improvement does not show up as well on photos as in real life because of reflections etc. This is the fourth car I have done this to, and again I am really happy with the result. The other cars have all had a few years use since treating, and if you keep up with occasional doses of protector the seats stay looking great.

The steps involved:
First clean with Leather Cleaner Mild

Then use the sanding pad to rub down rough spots, particularly around damage. My pad is getting a bit old and could do with replacing.

Then use degreaser. Wear gloves to avoid degreasing your hands. Also at this step try not to think about where the grease you are removing came from. Especially if like me your car has a few previous owners. Did they choose heated seats because they enjoy the feel of warm leather on their bare buttocks ?

At this point your seats will look very dull and flat, like the leather on a new Ford. Don’t worry, things get better soon !

Next comes the Leather Fresh Dye. Lederzentrum makes this in a whole range of colours to match standard BMW leather colours. All my BMWs have black seats so I make good use of my bottle of F034. Two coats on all surfaces, four on the damaged areas and the steering wheel. Use gloves unless you want your hands to colour co-ordinate with your seats !

Now two rounds of Leather Protector (four on the damaged areas and the steering wheel). I also use this a couple of times a year to keep the leather in my cars looking good.

Finally a good rubbing of Elephant Fat. This is not necessary on a coupe, but gives a nice glossy finish and I have a tin for my E30 convertible, so what the hell. For Z4 roadsters this is a must. It is like suncream for the seats protecting against the sun, wind and dirt that they get exposed to. This stuff is really thick so is best applied to warm seats. I last my treated my E30 on a 30C day after leaving it in the sun until the seats were too hot to touch. The seats just sucked up the treatment and are lovely and soft now.

Ummm, but Z4 leather is not meant to be glossy, or is that just your personal preference? :?

If it's anything like the gliptone stuff I used the gloss will calm down once absorbed into the leather within 24hours and the Matte finish will return :)

Looks a lot easier than the products you have to spray on.
Did you find any discount codes to use when purchasing?

Thanks

Nice thread, just done mine with Autoglym but may look at this product later on.

Personal preference. Plus as leather gets old it tends to get rubbed smooth and polished so goes shiny. Leaving out the Elephant Fat will give less shininess

Most of my supplies were bought when living in Germany and Holland, with some top-ups from the UK. To be honest I never looked for a discount.
