leather dye

Has anyone used leather dye on their seats to repair where it has worn?

I'm after some advice or 'how to' as my drivers side bolster is starting to show some scuffs.

thanks

Mine are black and I made a small scuff near the seam 'disappear' by using a black fabric pen. Would be more difficult with other colours I think as a match would be hard to find.

I have used black shoe leather dye to touch up drivers side bolster wear. This works very well and is the main reason I prefer black leather...

You can get that re-connolising correction stuff you apply. Not sure how it works, but it's good for adding real substance back to the worn areas.

Gliptone, apparently, do a very good leather restoring kit.

Sounds a bit grand to put so much effort it, but it can really help bring leather back from the brink, rather than a stop-gap on it's way to being properly worn out!

Leather dye kiwi is a good match for black interiors as WHL stated.

When appling just dab it do not shine it, dab any excess off before it dries. Let it sit overnight and then apply leather treatment. Works very well.

that Kiwi stuff looks like it did a good job, mine aren't as bad as those pics just a little bit of wear up the top so should be a good fix. The re-connolising correction stuff is probably a bit more than i need.

thanks guys! :)

Have a look in the Classic Car mags, you can buy all colours to "paint" your leather and it looks ok afterwards. A trick used with the oldies to give leather seats and trips the "restored" look.

hi man I have just done the bolster in my car its black leather as well I used a kit from leather dyes and restoration cost was £25 pounds that was for cleaner and dye it worked a treat on mine. Try web site if its really bad these people will recover that part of the seat it costs about £75 £80 pounds

I've always used a Liquid Leather Scuff Master kit from Gliptone on all my previous BMW's, first came across it over on e36coupe.com. One of the site sponsers runs Bespoke Leather and does a good deal for forum members, also does some fantastic leather retrims!

Gliptone scuff master arrived today, had a go tonight with it on a couple of wee "scuffs",I am well impressed , the marks vanished, Ill do the drivers bolster this weekend which isnt just as bad as the above pic , if Iget it looking like the after shot Ill be well pleased :D

I've used the Gliptone stuff in the past on a BMW 328 Grey leather interior. Worked a treat but it was hard work!

Try this stuff, http://www.furnitureclinic.co.uk/Leather_Recolouring_Balm.php, worked well on my drivers seat, get loads for your money, recommend it

I recently did mine as the drivers seat was a little worn, and I got a bottle from eBay for £12 and it worked a treat. Takes a couple of applications and wiped the excess off on each occasion.
