Leaking washer fluid tank

I think I've got a cracked tank or a leak somewhere. Filled it up the last time I used the car and its gone today even though it's not been used. :x

I intend on removing the tank and inspecting it over the weekend but I had a thought.

Do these tanks come with a level sensor? Thinking back, since I have owned the car I've never seen a low level screenwash warning on my dash which is odd considering my old 330D had one.

Hopefully it's just a dodgy seal somewhere otherwise it looks like I'm off to the breakers and in the meantime keeping some water in the boot. No point in wasting screenwash at the moment.

the pump washer/seal can dry and harden esp when removed for cleaning and start to leak.
Take the bottle out, cap off the pump hole, leave filled overnight to observe.
 
Could be that one of the pumps (you have 2 if car has headlamp washers) has come loose? They are only a "push fit" into the sealing grommets. The tank is quite soft plastic, so I don't think it's brittle enough to crack.

Only 1 bolt to remove it, disconnect the wiring plug(s) first.

Yes, very easy to remove and check where the leak comes from. I had to buy one new pump for my dad's X3 (same system), and as Ducky said, it is just a push fitting.
 
or one of the headlight washers is goosed...my nearside washer could empty the whole tank in 24 hours when it was knackered
 
Thanks for all the advice.

Definitely not headlight washers as I've disconnected those due to one making off for a life of its own. I might have knocked/dislodged the pump that feeds the washers when disconnecting though so this could well be the source of my problems.

Is it silly that I feel annoyed I've lost a whole tank of screenwash? Lol.

I don't think it will be the tank. I always look first to the rubber grommet washer thing sealing the pump into the tank. Otherwise fill the tank with water then generally prod and poke and wiggle things until you find wetness.
My E46 has taken to filling the battery compartment with washer fluid - due to the connection of the pump to the hose. I don't mind losing the fluid, it's the bailing I object to
