Leaking front strut

Hi, I have just found out that I have a `slight` leak on the front nearside strut on my E85 Z4.
Is it a big job to carry out and is it advisable to have the other side done at the same time?
Any ideas on cost?
Any advise appreciated.

Hi,

Not a big job (If you've got/access to a spring compressor), and yes unless the struts are nearly new, they should be changed as a pair. Not sure of OEM prices but Koni/Bilstein are around £150-170 each.

Stu.

Very easy job, as has been stated. If you have a standard suspension car the OEM Sachs struts are available from many UK suppliers at about £150 a pair for the fronts (much cheaper if purchased on German Ebay-about £100 a pair). if you have M sport suspension they are different spec and only available direct from BMW at an outrageous price in the region of £400 a pair. Much cheaper to buy Bilstein B8's, which are recommended for M sport suspension (again, much cheaper from Ebay Germany-I just purchased a full set of 4 for £460 delivered. If your mileage is 60,000+ you may want to consider a full set but at the very least, as has also been stated, you should renew both on the front.

This is where I bought them, you have to ask for a delivery price to the UK (he charged me 20 euros) http://www.ebay.de/itm/Bilstein-B8-Sprint-Stosdampfer-BMW-Z4-Satz-fur-vorne-und-hinten-mit-4Stuck-neu-/311307487033?pt=DE_Autoteile&hash=item487b5f4739. Got them in 3 days by DHL (the photos in the listing are generic BTW and don't show the Z4 shocks)

What car do you have.
I have a nearside strut complete with spring fitted for a 3.0 sport suspension in the garage spare............. like a budgie.........going Cheap
