Leak in boot?!

Hey I was washing my car in preparation to try out McGuires 3 stage. After washing I opened up the boot and noticed that the corner was soaking, I checked around the light enclosure but couldn’t find anything, after peeling back the carpet I found where the leak was (photo).

It looks as though it is coming from this cover. I don’t know what it is for or where the water is getting to it from?

Does anybody know if this is common? And/or the best way to fix it?
Any help would be great, hopefully before it rains!!

The third brake light is cracked but this is in the driver side, right hand corner. I don’t know what the cover is for but I think it is coming through here. One of the threads said that it was coming from some gutters around the roof (not the drains) but I don’t know how to get to them to clean them if it is?

Definitely worth checking the drains for the hood. Mine were blocked by airborne gunge. The stealers fixed it after two go's but tried to claim it wasnt covered by the warrantly- it was my fault for parking under trees! I asked them to show me how the leaves got into the drain, assuming there were any and they shuffled their feet. As the UK does have the odd tree and is not a desert bit of a tricky one. More likely to have come from airborne stuff from driving round the lanes with the top down, funny that one should do that with a convertible really.

I found what it is and hopefully fixed it. I took the vent (pictured) out and the seal had deteriorated over time, instead of putting a new seal on I used this caravan sealant/glue that is used to fix caravans together to stick it in place and when I ran water over it there was no water getting in.

As for the drains I will be having a go at them this week I think, I have a couple of weeks off and I figure it’s my chance to give the car a good going over, can’t wait!

Cheers for all the help guys
