Good evening all I just wanted to see what plans or feel there is for a group trip down to Le Mans this year? Cheers :driving:

I certainly plan go this year with R junior. Just need to get my act together and make some plans and bookings.

Am hoping to leave Calais earlyish on the Friday morning and do as much of the journey down to Le Mans on non-autoroutes. Will probably stay over Sunday night and have a leisurely return trip on the Monday.

Tony. All booked with tickets and hotels. Going overnight on Thursday after work and staying in Northern France to motor down Fridat early enough for the event in the evening.

Got seats at the Dunlop Curve and a hotel in Mulsanne for Saturday night. I am getting too old for camping and an all nighter!

This ismy fourth visit and I am looking forward to it.

Leaving Tuesday pm to catch the 11pm Newhaven/Dieppe ferry. Leisurely drive down to Le Mans on the Wednesday avoiding the autoroutes.

Will watch the race at the Hotel Arbor located at the side of the Mulsanne Straight. Camping in La Chartre.

450 mile thrash on the Monday to catch the overnight Rotterdam/Hull ferry home. :driving:

We're on the 23:15 ferry from Portsmouth to Le Havre on the Thursday night, so get to Le Havre about 08:30 on Friday , allowing a leisurely trip down (no sense in trying to speed in France these days - too many speed traps and massive on-the-spot fines).

I first went to Le Mans in 1994, and have attended more often than not since then.

I was thinking of getting a group together and do a forum visit maybe ?

I would be interested in this! Last time I went to le mans I was 16 years old so about 7 years ago...and it was amazing. Best weekend away you could ask for!

Looking into this a bit more, I think its a bit late to book for 2015....2016 anyone??? Need to book camping by Christmas if people want to go!

Most of my group are already on their way, I'm on the 8:20 eurotunnel tomorrow with a couple of other guys.

No messing around with fridges this year, we'll have cold beer on tap :)

Boarding Eurotunnels train on Friday evening 20:20. Pretty late unfortunately, but hey. See you all on the other side. :driving:

Next year is a definitive yes for me. I messed about for too long this year and when I decided to go I couldn't get the grandstand seats and campsite I wanted.

You're right that booking pre-Xmas is necessary. November is, I think, when the tickets go on sale.

To anyone who has never been, Le Mans is a must do on your bucket list. Even if you are not into motor racing the whole scale of the event is really something you must experience. I took a mate of mine a few years ago. He is a biker and not bothered about cars or any form of Motorsport. He was like a kid on Chistmas Day for the entire weekend.

My advice would be to book tickets - entrance, grandstand and campsite - direct with the Automobile Club D'Louest (ACO) and your travel directly with a ferry company or Eurotunnel. The only benefit of going through the specialist agents are that you can get a very nice and secure campsite but, in my opinion, it's not worth the premium cost.

A Forum event to Le Mans would be the pinnacle of awesomeness! :)

Departing early in the morning for 7ish crossing via euro tunnel. Not driving this year as a friend is kindly taking his RS6 to keep the overall costs down.

Staying at Team Langoustine 8)
