Launch control

guys anybody have info about launch control ?!
what is that ?! and is it ok to fit in the car any disadvantages ?!!
i've seen a video on youtube a Z4 vs M3, the z4 is supercharged and it really beats the M3 big time, he also have a launch control

As far as I know the SMG system has launch control, but the US system is not as agressive as the European one. It basically allows you to rev the engine and when you decide to GO it handles all the rest for you (I think)... supposed to get you off the mark very quick.

Apparently it has inbuilt software that logs its use, and after 30 uses your warranty is void... again, from what I read.

Not sure i'd be keen using something so heavy on the clutch.... and also, it's not a retro fit option, but part of the SMG system.

All the above may be completely wrong, but that's how I understand it anyway.

i'm thinkin of fiting spacers, do they do anything about handling ?!
coz from what i know it makes the tyers out a bit wider

Yes, and after a specified number of launches (10 or so) BMW voids the tranny warranty.

Launch control is not a standard feature on the Z4 SMG box, it came about with the SMG II system on the 3 series.

At a guess, the Z4 you saw may have had a Race Logic system installed or something similar.

I had to use Spacer on mine when I installed new brakes, It makes the track a little wider, so I guess improves the handling a little, but you probably won't notice it.

True, mostly for looks when spacer's are added, I love mine..
