Launch control o manual gearbox?

I can't find any reference to it...is it there on a 2.0 M sport?

I ask because I was in Sport + mode and trying to pull off in a 'spirited manner' at some lights and it wouldn't rev over 3.5k, it just sat there no matter what, it wouldn't go higher. When I rapidly engaged the clutch it took off like a shot!

I haven't tried it again...anyone help?

A lot off modern cars won't allow you to rev the cars at a standstill. Can be a pain when MOTing them. Deisels are worse. They won't rev past about 1200 rpm with euro iv emissions

It will happily rev in comfort or sport...odd...I will video it tomorrow.

Perhaps a safety feature. In sport + the traction control is off, therefore the potential of red line revs, step start = highly stressed components / broken bits ?

Thats the intention... most grip and spot on revs for maximum torque off the line. In practice, I've read elsewhere that a good driver can do a better job.

Having never tried it, I can't comment. I either never have the time, the right road, or I just forget I have it...

Launch Control on the run flat tyres was a waste of time. Tried it on different surfaces but a controlled start is a lot quicker. Now I've ditched the run flats I have tried launch twice, it's better but I will be sticking to controlled starts.
If you want to give launch a go, try it away from other traffic as the tail can snake a bit. It's just a bit of a toy for a bit of fun to try now and again, with plenty of wheel spin giving a good adrenalin rush.

Have to disagree with you on this one!

I have carried out the test in dry conditions on same road surface. Launch control is way quicker off the line. When you a better driver can do better, how would that be? mash the pedal differently somehow? :fuelfire:

Here's a like to the test i did with measurement equipment and not the seat of my arse to determine performance difference between the two.

You can't disagree with me... because I didn't offer fact or opinion.. I said its what I've read, and I can't comment because I've not tried it. You did read that bit right? :P

Talk with Quadracer if you want to disagree, he's the one with experience.

I agree launch control is quicker off the line but the getting to 50mph is slower as the car is snaking and spinning trying to find grip. I'm hoping it will be better with the Quaife. Find out Tuesday :)
