Latest Mods : Brakes & CF ** PICS!

More work in progress....
...now becoming a bit of a Z4 Forum standard - replaced the radio knob with newer item from BMW - also swopped out the old heater controls. ahh much better.
then finally got the ULTIMATE PEDALS set in place. the rest pedal came as LHD so waited a couple of weeks, now fitted. lovely. and they are wearing quite well - they were 'frosted' now look sort of shiny.

Eagle eyed amongst you will notice the latest parts from the Carbon Fibre Corporation - lower steering cowl, roof inspection cover... just waiting for a few bits to arrive from the factory.. PM me if anyone needs any Carbon Fibre lamination.

heres some pics - enjoy.

only job is the fitting, you will need the motors out of your old lights and swap them over to the new ones (they don't come with)

Do you have a how to? Any guidance on this? I have these lights too and no idea how you would fit the motors! I'm assuming you mean for the self leveling.......

Ps top.work with the laminating!

hi Imp75... i took them to my local garage as i was very lazy. you will need to remove front bumper, the inna arches, old headlamps, and then swap whatever there is missing. i think its not a hard job - just would need a good day of fiddling. sorry not very helpful... :?

Mark,

Woud be great to see a few moe pics, with the rear cubby fitted etc.

Are your roll over hoops in CF also?

Looks great!

thanks

hi all, been in the US working for like 6mths, in that time been getting the interior parts laminated, taken ages (6 mths actually) but here we are... top of dash board, door grab handles, elec window surrounds, gear stick surround... looks great and gives a nice feel to the interior.
Reason for doing this? some of you remember i had the lot wrapped in vinyl CF - well this bubbles after a time, and i couldn't stare at it any longer. Before you all go on about it, yes I'm doing the alu part of the tunnel as well, just not got round to it yet! ...
Bottom steering cowl is off as its in need of a respray - i got some TCut or something on it and its stained - although I'm tempted to also get her CF'ed. yikes.

Then had new Brake Disks replaced, didn't go for KSport BBK as planned, wedding is next year so the misses cuffed me on that mod. So just had the disks replaced with drilled Brembo's - this time though, i had the hubs dipped in HT paint so they don't rust - rears are the same (well i bought plain rears and had them drilled to match the fronts). Brembo pads as well. Looks pretty good through the wheels and didn't cost the earth.

Rear brake light has been replaced by a clear one, then tinted with film by LaminX, i feel it makes the trunk look simplified... although when polished at the weekend the damn stuff loves to sit on the edges. hmm.

Front head lights have been bought and will be fitted today, so more pics to follow.. got the clear EBay ones a few of us have got already - mine however are the smoked versions .....

Hi,

Car looks great. I must have missed something here. Could you send me a link to the lights you bought off eBay, so I can have a look.

Much appreciated.

Marf

Could you pm me an itemised price for:

Door pulls (both front and rear pieces)
Window switch covers
Dash (both parts)
Centre console
Gear surround
Roll over hoops
Wing mirrors

I Imagine quite pricey, but may start doing a part a month... :fuelfire:

Thanks

Looks good! I have those same headlights with silver inlays and Xenons, very pleased with them.

Can be bought via various websites, such as here: http://www.bmwproducts.nl/Webwinkel-Product-6937856/Angel-eyes-koplampen-BMW-Z4-E85.html and here: http://www.cabrio-style.de/BMW-Z4-Roadster/BMW-Z4-Scheinwerfer-Angel-Eyes-mit-Standlichtringen

so quite a lot has happened since this last post... aiming for completion for Gaydon show and hopefully Performance BMW feature.

here's some lovely iphone snaps...

first the grills - in carbon fibre with flat black centers, stress bar is powder coated red.
IMG_3256_zpsf6fb07ea.jpg

engine bay has had new stainless bolts throughout, new carbon fibre engine & rail covers and a black strut bar.
IMG_3229_zpsc86dee8a.jpg

roll bars cost me a fortune and they dont fit! argh! but after some struggling we got them sorted. in 2x2 twill, carbon fibre as before.

IMG_3355_zps4424076e.jpg

whilst i was at it, had those lumps of plastic called seat belt holders done in CF as well. The tiny back part of the seat belt covers are still at the factory...
IMG_3350_zps07631076.jpg

Mirror covers in carbon fibre, blue lenses and a red base plate.
IMG_3346_zps9abaef95.jpg

CSLs have been refurbed in shadow chrome instead of black for this year. looks massive.
IMG_3343_zps021af7fd.jpg

And behind them sit new APRacing 8 pot serious calipers and flaoting disks.
IMG_3333_zpsfea63326.jpg

the rears are just refurbed 3.0l calipers.

boot is being resprayed - but thought id get the rusty old stryts replaced... had some stainless versions added. looks ace.
IMG_3362_zps8eaab0d9.jpg

rear bumper : remember the Reiger version i went with? well its taken me this long to butcher it into place. didnt fit, was too wide, etc etc.
only got a snap of the test fit... at night... main of it is body colour (475) and insert is satin black. Looks brilliant in the flesh.

Mark are those calipers ksports with ap writing?? .... What's the part number on them (stamped on the back) ap don't make a road formula 8 pot caliper......
They also don't look like ap hardware too, the balance tube is never painted from AP and the nipple isn't the patented AP unit either...., the AP lettering is incorrect as is the general construction/hardware of the caliper, They look awesome but if you've been sold them as APs I think you have been misled......

looking at the design, bolt configuration and general construction i'd say k-sport.... ive seen quite afew k-sports grinded down and AP branding placed on them.

Trust you to spot them! Yeah they are Johnny 5's rebadged and refurbed. The amount I spent on getting them 'red' I could have bought a set of new ones! Didn't want 'performance bmw' on them as that looked a bit quiet and certainly didn't want 'k-sport' written on them as its the worst logo ever... Actually I think they were Dspec or something...

Hahaaa I'm good at this type of thing...
Good work however.... I would have branded them with the ///M logo...
