Late service

I've just noticed that my service (2nd) was due 10th October and it's being don tomorrow!
Only 7k since the last one at 10th October 2012 so it shouldn't matter re the warranty should it?
 
I wouldn't have thought that was a problem. It's only a few weeks after all.

I recall that I was a few weeks late on the service on my old E89 because of agreeing a mutually convenient date, nobody at the dealers mentioned any problem.
 
Technically you have a month. Would only be an issue if a claim was made under warranty, buy would thing it won't be an issue even then being 8 days over.
 
As said, technically wrong but in the real world I don't think they will say a word. It is not like it is months late.

I'm getting very confused over the service issue. Your post seems to infer annual service periods, but I thought everything was down to the cars computer?

Yes! Strange how the first brake fluid change is three years yet two thereafter. Does this mean that the second one isn't covered by the five year service plan?
As our E89 will do less than 3000 miles per annum, mainly with my wife driving it very gently, does this mean that an oil change may not be required, even though desirable, after two years?

It will be required as its either every 2 years or X amount of miles whatever comes first. As for the brake fluid, as the light usually appears with a month to go I believe it is covered but you would need to get it done prior to the service pack being up. All other cars I've had its covered 2 brake fluids and 2 oil services.

And at 4 years you need a full visual inspection which is covered by the service pack but the biggest waste of time EVER as they check the car every time they service it anyway. Plus that service if from the date of build which depending on when the at was built and when it was registered could be a good couple of months in between so you end up with a service one month and another the next. Mental!

I believe this is a more recent change to how BMW operate Ron. Mines is a 3 years then every two. Right pain in the bum as I prefer to get the brake and oil changes done at the same time.
 
Yes it does sort of screw things up!
It might be better to have it done at two years as an early change, or the other alternative is have it done at three years them every two years at mot time?
 
I am a bit confused about the servicing on ours.
We bought it in August 2013 with around 27,000 miles and the previous service was in July 2012 with 14,000 miles.
When buying we were told it didnt need a service and the onboard computer would decide what and when.
There has been no indication of it wanting a service and the next service that is indicated is July 2015.
My wife was at a dealer during the summer and while there they checked the key to see if it was due a service and they said it wasnt.
The only message previously has been for the MOT.
What are you supposed to do? Wait for the car to advise on when it is to be serviced via CBS or every 2 years?
Surely if its due every 2 years the car would have this date on the screen like it does now for 2015?
Does this mean it has missed a service and if it has why was there no message?
The car runs brilliantly, never missed a beat and never used a drop of oil.
