Hi Guys,
Although I've been a member since purchasing my Z4 I haven't had too much involvement in the forum. However, I'd like to share with you something that is very valuable. I have had the car for nearly 4 years. I love it, but unfortunately I am having to sell it due to personal circumstances. Recently it failed an MOT due to the emissions test. The bloke at the garage suggested I needed a new CAT.
BULLSHIT! How could he tell that? So I looked on this forum and found a post that said other contributing factors could be masking the real problem. I am fortunate in that I have a very good friend of mine who is the fountain of all knowledge when it comes to bikes and cars. He also sells BG products. For those that have never heard of this I suggest you Google it. Terraclean is just pure petrol you're paying for and doesn't do the job properly or for very long. BG engine oil flush and petrol additive has made a whole lot of difference to my 2 litre engine while ensuring it cleaned all carbon deposits from the engine to have an immediate effect on the performance of it and lowering the emissions readings by a significant amount. A lot of Garages either don't believe the results from his product or just happy in knowing that the customers car will always be breaking down due to engine mismanagement therefore resulting in regular work coming in.
I appreciate that there will be cynics amongst you but this is just my subjective view. After the Terraclean I didn't really notice any difference and I think they rely on the placebo effect. After the recent BG engine flush and petrol additive you can really feel the difference.
This car is going on Gumtree due to the astronomical fees charged by eBay. Just something to think about when failing missions tests on MOT days. Happy Christmas to you all. ( I am not trying to endorse a product but the results are worth considering to save you money).

I had a 3.0Si (on 95k) for a short while Feb / March , the seller had the engine treatment carried out at 90k & from memory the invoice referred to BG treatment which i had never heard of :? , , definitely not Terraclean as remember discussing the point with him , , anyhow all i can say is the car felt super sharp & lithe on throttle pick up , it started remarkably sharply & also ticked over whisper quiet with zero lifter noise
The treatment receipt was for £175 iirc ?
Anyhow best of luck with sale , go ebay classified advert at £14,99 for 30 day listing , no further fees added & from my own experience a far quicker sale process than Gumtree

Ta ta for now Grizzly. My FIAT mechanic used to swear by those type of treatments and it certainly never did the car any harm. plus I never had any emissions problems in 144k.. (Just every thing else broke  )

Be very careful about putting any additives into your engine oil or directly into petrol - the oil manufacturers including the oil companies have spent millions on research and development to ensure their products are providing maximum protection, it also states in the BMW manual do not use any additives.

I work in the oil industry and have seen many claims from various additive manufacturers and suppliers about improving fuels and have seen for myself when these so called additives/water dispersants, octane improvement etc have been added directly into underground fuel storage tanks in an attempt to improve the quality of fuel before it is sold onto the customer, in some cases we have had to uplift large quantities of fuel and filter it through special filters to remove entrained ppm water levels etc and on occasion we have had to uplift and transport large quantities of both petrol and diesel back to the terminal to be re-blended as a result of additives being added to petrol and diesel.

Without going into too much technical detail I do not recommend additives of any description!

Hope you can return to the fold sometime in the future grizzly
Why don't you try an ad on here? I've sold 2 cars this year through the forum

Interesting post OP!

In one way I wish you success with the sale, but then again I don't want the forum to lose another member! :?

Hope you get what you want though.

Not sure if this is the sort of thing you're referring to, OP, but the US Z4 forum guys who seem to know their stuff (ie, 'serious' folk who track and maintain their Z4's to a high standard) all seem to swear by BG44K. The consensus seems to be the other additives are little more than snake oil with little to no effect.
I'm also not endorsing this product - I can't even buy the damn stuff here :( .
