I sold my 2006 134S Elise last December after a years ownership, it was a car that was on my bucket list but I never really gelled with after having TVR's. I found it too harsh on the roads around here, ok if on a track or a billiard top smooth road. For me there is no comparison between the Elise and my Z4MC, I just found the M much more civilised in every department.....the only exception would be the Lotus gearbox which was a joy to use.

My Elise was the 134S as well Das, agree with the z4 comment also-they're much more accomplished as a daily driver
I think the lotus is more "special" though with people stopping to stare at it often 8)
The Toyota 1zz engine does have a decent box despite the cable infested linkage
I always thought the design of the lotus was superb, from its minimal cockpit to the pioneering aluminium chassis which was bonded together with no welds :driving:

I know what you mean about the design, for me the thing I least liked was the front wheels were visually too narrow, the later ones were 1/2" wider but for me it still looked odd. Apparently if they went wider the grip would of been too much compared to the rear.
I forgot to mention the 1ZZ clutch was very good at 'getting off the line' ( unlike the Z4MC) :D :D
Dave.
