Elusive answer Tim  I really don't get why you would "rent" a car then not use it just so it can be returned virtually as you received it & on minimal miles :?
ludicrous

Maybe to you, depends how you look at it, the cars my hobby so doesn't matter to me if I do a 1000 or 10,000 during my ownership as I still enjoy the car and what it has to offer. Theres a guy a few doors from me who has a 1995 Ford Escort Cosworth tucked in his garage and I think I've seen him get it out 4 times in 20 years so I'm doing pretty well :P

Tim.

Hardly a good analogy Tim as he most likely paid for it many years back
I just see zero benefit to anyone other than BMW finance & whoever buys your ex car :?

But as this is most likely my last new BMW I will hopefully be keeping it immaculate with very low mileage and buying a car at a decent price at the end of the finance. The balloon payment is based on a much higher mileage than I will actually be doing so would rather do it that way than trying to find a 4 year old car that hasn't been cared for, especially these types of cars that will have been thrashed in the first few years. So really I will be benefitting.....I think lol.

I'm sure you have hobbies etc where I would think god why waste your money, but we spend our cash to please our personal gratification :)

If I hadn't of gone with the A45 AMG I would have almost certainly bought an M140i ... I will be interested to hear what you think in due course :)

I'll report back, power has gone up a little, I think mine being pre LCI is 320bhp, LCI is 326 and the M140i is 346bhp I think to compete against the Ford Focus RS :?

Tom.

Not gonna happen with the RS being 4WD. That's again where BMW are missing a trick. My other half is obsessed with 4WD on everything at the moment!

Just read about you buying this as your last BMW. Hopefully with the amount of electrics it holds up.

I got some M2 info today, before I got the mini for the next few days it would seem. And was told that the allocation at the dealer is out until 2019! And the demo M2 was sold before it arrived. The guy who bought it was the first to drive it, but still, it'll have been driven like it's been stolen for 3/4K miles and he'll of paid full whack for the privilege.

I like your logic, especially as you will probably buy it at the end anyway!

What makes sense to one person doesn't to another! The nearest I got to a new BMW was a 3 month old 123d in 2008. I was doing some business mileage, got a car allowance and an interest free loan from my employer so you could argue it wasn't costing me anything! Mind you when I sold it in 2014 I realised it had cost quite a bit in depreciation, but very little to run - my only mistake was not trying a 130i!

I have a daily driver now so my Z4 is an extravagance in a 1 person household, but it's my hobby so I don't really care!

And that spec you have chosen sounds fantastic! Enjoy

The dealer allocations for the M2 have been long gone although you will see the usual lucrative ads on Autotrader :)

As for the electrics holding out, I think that's the case for any modern car now especially the Z4 with the roof etc. but I will keep tight hold if an extended warranty  My Z3 is pretty simple as things go at least the hood is manual :)

Hey we are all free to do what we like & not everything we do has to be financially prudent
I know you like watches as I do & having thousands in timepieces would seem ludicrous to many but not to us
I'm not even knocking PCP or leasing cars , it would seem the majority of new cars registered are done this way but I just can't grasp the logic of not using it to then hand it back on min miles in virtually new condition :?
This latest one is a different caper as you intend to make it your own & as you point out you & only you will have driven the car so going forward it will be one to cherish for many years
Sept aint that far away & I look forward to the pics , I like the combo you have gone for & these are seriously quick motors especially in AWD spec with auto (o-60 4.4secs :o )

I'm sure you've done all the maths etc, but if you know that you are keeping the car at the end of the lease deal, isn't a PCP a more expensive option than just buying it outright? Dealer finance and bank loans used to be cheaper than PCP finance if you intend to own the car at the end of it - might have changed, but interested in the logic of a PCP as the basis of the deal?

Am i reading this right?
You are going to buy a new car, keep the miles down and keep it immaculate so that when you pay the final payment it looks like you have got a good deal on a low miles car?
You have already paid the full amount so its not like its a bargain.

The GFV is based on what they think the car will be worth at 4 years and 40,000 miles at the end of the PCP which mileage wise I won't be doing anything near that so yes in a way you are correct but will be still be owning an as new motor as opposed to a clapped out one
