Has anyone tried larger profile Tyres ? I have been told that 255 40 18
are ok for the back but what about 225 45 18 on the front?
I'm thinking it would be a plusher ride and raise the ride height slightly
hopefully stopping the front scraping when I back onto my drive.
Thoughts please.

A 45 aspect ratio on the from will not make a substantial difference in ride height. Just be more aware of speed bumps driveways and generally avoid things that may damage the car. It's part of the love hate relationship with a low vehicle.

I run nitto 555 extremes front 245/40/18
Rear 255/35/18
I like 18's because they don't make the rotors look undersized like a 19 and the sidewall height is comfortable for me at 31 p.s.i. As the pressure will increase as the tire warms up.

ok so standard 225 40 would give 90mm
245 40 = 98mm
225 45 = 101.25mm

if you don't have any rubbing issues at 98mm I should be ok with 101.25mm
