Sticky tape is a good idea. They go mental when it sticks to their fur. Quite comical to watch.

The supersoaker idea does work as long as your cat is terrified of water. I have 3 and all go mental as soon as it begins to rai..

Try lowering the roof while the cat is sleeping on it. That'll learn it.

I have two cats and two years ago, the oldest one suddenly adopted my Z4's roof as his spot to conduct neighborhood surveillance. I got excellent deterrent results after a half-dozen or so applications of the son's super soaker water gun, or even a glass of cold water from the kitchen, tossed in his general direction.

The cat is sitting in the best place from their pov. High, safe, warm, comfy, decent view. I think that if You provide a superior alternative they will use that instead. Some sort of sheltered shelf a bit higher warmer safer and preferably with fresh tuna.

Hmm... nice idea. Had never thought about it this way.
