Large ginger cat problem

Just lately a rather large ginger cat has decided to make the roof of my Z its own personal bed :headbang: I've shooed it off a few times but it keeps coming back

Now, I'm a real cat lover so no way would I do anything nasty to it but it is covering my roof in ginger fur and also covering my Z in muddy footprints!

So, does anyone else have the same issue? Any possible solutions?

The problem is well documented, see these threads

This is still a major problem for me, and i think the cats are going deaf to the sonic deterrents :headbang:

Moving soon so the cats will become my tenants problem!

I have two white cats, and even with my hardtop fitted i often come outside to be greeted to them both sat on top of the roof!!

ive started fitting a roof cover as it really pee's them off ;)

ive found polishing the bonnet only results with the cats engaging all wheel drive(claws) and running up the side of the Wing, leaving joyfull tickle marks on my paint Grrrrrr

the simple answer is to build a garage !

Ah, maybe I should have used the search function first

Seems like this is a real problem with roadster ownership. Although it only seems to be lately that he's bothered. Might try some citrus spray on the roof as cats supposedly hate the smell.

citronella oil worked for me for a while, smelt nice too, but soon washed off or they got used to it.

I have a scat mat, keeps them off the roof, but they sit on the bonnet then.

Even with my car cover on they sit on my car....

I am not a cat lover but i feel sorry for them, people who rent next door just seem to neglect them :(

The cat is sitting in the best place from their pov. High, safe, warm, comfy, decent view. I think that if You provide a superior alternative they will use that instead. Some sort of sheltered shelf a bit higher warmer safer and preferably with fresh tuna.

The cat sat on our roof for a year or so. I can't see any evidence. Apart from a tiny scratch on the wing just in front of the driver door mirror.

squirt it with water next time he/she does it.

make sure it's from a decent water gun and they should stop doing it.

I used to do that... prob is.. when you scare them they get their claws out

Ben G 's comment reminded me of this I saw a while back.... :)

Defo a vote for the supersoaker gun. You'd only need to do it once. The roofs are pretty tough and I'd rather risk a claw in it than regular abuse of a moggy living on the roof.

Being a cat lover Im sure this "guaranteed" deterent will not meet with your approval ...... :D but it works.

Cut several strips of 2 Inch sticky tape and leave them sticky side up on the place of choice.

Obviously its only an idea and not something I would do myself ..... :D

better than the super soaker you have to get to the cat and get it really wet before that will work. my cat given the oppertunity will jump in the shower while its warming up.

you can buy these motion sensor air release systems that use a can of compressed air but the cans are s**t and dont last long. i found a glade motion thingy worked well for stopping the moggy from going on the kitchen table. One good thing about the air thing is it beeps as it squirts, a few poeple i know of said it became a bit like pavlovs dogs the cat would hear the beep and shove off before the squirt.
