Hello, has anyone learned to speak another language with an online course. I believe Rosetta Stone are the main contenders, any good ? any alternatives ? any free ones :D ?
Italian is the choice language I would like to attempt .
Another question , who here speaks the most languages ? Self taught, school taught, come from a multi lingual family ?.

Forget the online stuff, my wife tried that with Dutch and was just not working.

Dutch, English, French and German speaker with French being the weakest language but sufficient to get by.
 
I think £150 for 6 months and £250 for 12 months and that's all online with tutor intervention too.

And there refund policy is a month I believe, so if you feel it's not working, then....just return it
 
I used CDs in the car on long journeys , learning to speak french on my way to France a few times a year while building down there , it got me the basics then just keep on top of it , I probably sound like an idiot when speaking it but I always manage to get what I need so it doesn't bother me that much and they seem to appreciate me making the effort .
 
I can only speak 2 languages - complete gibberish and English. Truly fluent in the former; still working on the latter (as you may have noticed from previous postings) :P
