Lane Departure, Steering Assist Won't Stay Off!

I have my lane departure, steering assist turned off on our G29 M40i, and usually, at least, when I start out, it's on! So annoying! Going to it in the settings seems to get it turned back off, but why do I have to do this? I just want it permanently gone! Thanks, :x

Sounds like,a software glitch there. We both have it switched off under our individual profiles and then it doesn’t intervene.
Maybe worth a trip to the dealer.

I have the same thing on our new 120D. I pulled over less than a mile from the dealer and turned it off.
As others have said, I turned it off on my profile which links to my key.
Are you setting it against your profile, and are you using your personal key, or maybe sharing them?
If one key has it off and the other hasn't then you may have this issue. ie, just grabbing a random bunch of keys.

I'm due to go in for the 1 yr. check up, and I'll mention it for sure. Thanks!

I was under the impression that you can’t turn it off permanently. It can be turned off for the current journey by pressing and holding the button on the dash for a few seconds.

It’s possible to turn down the vibration intensity and cancel the steering intervention through Idrive, this is saved in the profile. I’d go for turning off altogether if it were possible, the little green light on the display telling me I have strayed out of lane pisses me off intensely :headbang: :headbang:

I think I misunderstood the original question

It IS possible to turn off steering intervention through idrive but not the steering wheel vibration, not totally anyway. I did have the same problem as the OP when I first had the car, in that I turned off the intervention in idrive. However, intervention continued and I had a tech at BMW try it out, he confirmed that there was a fault. His advice was 'wait and see', lo and behold the problem stopped a week or two later and hasn't come back.

However, unless I turn off the system for the journey through the button on the dash the green light on the display pops on and off in an annoying way even when I haven't committed any lane departures.

Something isn't quite right I feel
