Landshark Lower Grill

I saw a pic of a lower grill at the "Roadster Solutions" website. I thought the look tied in very nice with the upper grills. Has anyone bought one of these? It's hard to tell from the pic what kind of quality they are. I was thinking of ordering one but thought I better ask first. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Probably not the answer you want to see but I think it's aweful

I went through some investigation into a mesh grille a few months back and almost wihout exception the response was to leave grilles as OEM. I got well hammered for even thinking about it.

I really only want to know the truth guys, really, no holding back! :fuelfire: I did notice when looking at many pics of members cars that nobody had one of those grills. What was weird was after seeing the pic of that lower grill, I looked at the front of mine and thought something looked like it was missing on the bottom. :|

I think it depends on the colour of the car and the colour of the grill.
I've seen one with it and quite liked it, the car was silver and the grill didn't stand out too much at all. It's certainly better looking than some of the mesh grills that people install.

There was a thread a few weeks ago with a link to a site that sells them and the pictures there made it look pretty bad. I think it was maybe painted in too bright a silver, making it stand out too much, it needs to be more of an anthracite colour, so it's less noticable.

I guess when you really think about it, most cars that have multiple front grill sections, MATCH! My Z is silver. The grills (like you said) are that anthricite with a chrome surround. I didn't think a matching lower grill was too out of the question.

^ LOL.... I remember that

 I'm embarrassed to say I have one, though I think it's looks pretty neat. It's black with my black grilles, on Sterling Grey. Being black on black, it's barely noticiable except to Z4 fans, all who comment favorabaly. I think it's much better than crome on crome - too obvious.

How is the quality of the grill? Is it like the stock upper grills or is it a flat cutout? It's hard to tell in the add. Any pics of yours?

No, it's much lighter (cheaper) material than uppers, though the quality absolutely looks the same. Not a cut-out, 3 dimentional as uppers. Roadster Solutions are so easy and nice to deal with as well. Easily installed are removeable. Sorry I dont have picks. I'll try some tonight, though they'll be hard to see - it's a very descret (back/black) mod.

I too, asked the same thing. On roadster solutions I think it looks great, but then I mentioned it here and got negative responses all the way down the thread. I recall someone posting a pic or two on it that wasn't from the roadster solutions website and it didn't look quite as good. For me its one of those mod's I'll have to see in person before I move on it.

Again, it's very descret. When standing, no one even notices it, but being your car, YOU do. Sort of like the Convertable Top Covers - 99/100 people never notices them.

I also recently purchased, and love the Z4 Trunk Sorage System. It looks great, though in the trunk! Great for owners manuals, CD, etc. Keeps the interior of car clutter-free.

Here we go - last time we looked at these:
http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4212&p=59949&hilit=lower+grille#p59949

You can see a picture of it in silver and darker.

It was the silver I thought to garish.

This thread shows a mesh grille experimented with on mine as the manufacturer is just a few miles away:

I think in all cases the black is better as it's less obvious, but in general my feeling is messing with the 'face' has limited success and changes the character of the Zed and one of the key Bimmer cues.

I personally thought that all those variations had some merit. Each had their own character. I didn't think any were bad. I like my stock upper grills. Would I change over to the other possibilities? Probably not, but I could see why someone would like the change. I'm new here, and starting to see lots of different versions that BMW offers. I've seen a few different front ends that I like alot. With that said, I still like mine too. It's just that the lower grill leaves a little to be desired IMHO. It sure doesn't have as much appeal as the upper grills. Maybe BMW didn't think it should. :?

Looking at that thread again, I think silver would be the only colour of car you could get away with having the silver lower grill grill. Otherwise it stands out too much. The black works well though.
It could be improved is it was a replacement for the standard lower grill, rather than sitting infront of the original, that way it could sit further back.
