Lambo doors

Has anybody attempted to put Lambo doors on their Z4? The idea is in my head and I can’t get rid of it….
I’ve looked locally in Manchester and I can’t find a garage to do it so might have to attempt it on my own.

Do you have limited mobility, or live in an area with very narrow parking spaces?

I’m struggling to think of any other reason why this might be a good idea. :?

Search back on this Forum 10 years for user .... sk93... Aug19 2013 ,he posted a video of Lambo doors on a Z4 E85 :tumbleweed:

Because he fancies doing it. Why not. Be an interesting project at least.
What I would say though OP is that you would probably struggle to sell it like that.................or at least have a very niche market.
So maybe consider if it is an easily reversible mod.

Hahaha, to be fair parking spaces do seem to be getting more narrow. Not sure about you but if I don’t have the door fully open I really struggle to get out of my Z4.
I just think it’s something different and I’m never going to own a
DeLorean!! 🤣

I feel like I would never sell this car and it will forever remain a project. I’ve seen some images online of the Z4 with Lambo doors and it does look amazing…. I will keep you posted.

Been done a few times in the MR2 roadster community. Hinges add a ridiculous amount of weight.

I never thought about the weight, thanks for the heads up. I will have a search for MR2’s and see if it’s worth doing or if it’s a massive pain and really affects the car.

DeLorean's have gullwing doors. You would really struggle to put those on a convertible.

Why? Just make the roof part out of soft top material. Admittedly it will be a bit floppy, but you must be used to that at your age mate. :poke:

Why not?…. That’s a much easier question to answer

The doors on a Z4 are wide, so yes access isn’t the easiest. Having said that ‘different’ isn’t always better.

Decades ago there was a magazine called ‘custom car’ (or something like that) and IIRC there was a guy called Andy Saunders who made loads of ‘one off’ creations… pretty sure he turned a small speed boat into a road legal car once!

Anyway, I’m sure you won’t let me temper your creative genius

Lambo doors today, tomorrow the world…..
What N-Cap rating for pedestrians you reckon that got? -100?
Or 5* if you put a tennis ball on the point!

It would be an excellent rating for the port side as the impact would push you to safety on the pavement, not so great if you if you get hit by the starboard side… if traffic coming the other way :driving:

Any pedestrian out there is fair game. Natural selection 😈
