Lambda sensor failure?

Hi all,

Last night, not long into my drive back to London from South Wales, my engine emissions light came on (20 miles into a 180 miles drive, doh!). Car still drove beautifully home, but now I need to look into getting it fixed. What's the best way of diagnosing the fault? I've got full diagnostic software so I'm going to plug in today, but some direction would be useful! Is INPA or one of the other software packages best? Or is this very likely to be a simple lambda sensor failure and it's as simple as just buying and fitting a new one? No loss in power/fuel economy (400 mile round trip, I averaged 39.2mpg on the computer! Blooming excellent for a 3.0i!) so I'm hoping it's just a duff sensor.

Any other tips/suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Chris

See what the fault is. If it's just a dead sensor it will be pretty obvious. If it is then most likely pre cat on the exhaust manifold, one is easy one a little less so. Got mine off Amazon for £80 along with a socket.

I'm struggling slightly, as INPA is all in German, and I haven't got a clue where to look in DIS! Anyone have a step by step guide for this? Feeling a little out of my depth! :?
