Following on from the once again great success of the National Meet, me and Tom Scott are thinking of organising another meet/hoon through our playground (the lakes) for towards the end of summer (September time). We both live round here and drive in the lakes regularly, but its so much more fun in a group. Hopefully this will be a good time with the warm weather still holding but roads quieter. For me late summer/early autumn in the lakes is the most beautiful time too.
Be different routes from the lakes tour to vary it up a bit, but it's not like there's a shortage of fantastic roads and scenery around here. Being photographers ourselves I think we'll probably combine it with a few choice stops for some decent detailed photoshoots of everyones cars aswell if people are interested in that.
We'll wait to see if there's any interest before putting a date on it but we're thinking September time.
Any takers?

Update 1
Right based on the Doodle and the most available date for most people, we'll pencil in the date as
Sunday 15th September
Apologies to those who can't make that date, maybe one or two of you may be able to swap things round and get there anyway 8)
We thought Sunday was a good day as it'll allow people to travel up on the Saturday if they wish and spend the Saturday doing whatever they wish in the Lakes as a couple have mentioned making a weekend of it with there partners, not to mention the clearer roads for better driving
Me and Tom will have a chat about some routes and meeting points, and from that suggest a hotel/campsite for anyone who wishes to stop over.
Update 2 from tom:
Now then guys! Quick update. Plan is to meet in Penrith on Sunday morning (15th September) at 10-30am to set off for 11am in Aldi car park. It is just off junction 40 M6. Come off the roundabout 3rd exit North Lakes Hotel, head toward red rooster fuel station at the round about straight across and turn left past Cranstons butchers into Aldi car park

Update 3 including route:
To break it down we head from Penrith south toward Lowther past Lowther Castle, onward through Askham toward Tirrel then onto the B5230 to Poole Bridge, onto the A592 around the west side of Ullswater. Stopping at Glenridding for a photo oportunity and catch up. From there carrying on that road over up and over Kirkston Pass, with a possible photo op up there depending on how many cars turn up, turing onto the A591 to Ambleside following this scenic road past Thirlmere all the way to Keswick. Folowing this road through the town centre and turing left onto the B5289 following the east side of Derwentwater through the Borrodale valley up and over Honister pass where we will stop for another catch up and photo oportunity through Gatesgarth, buttermere following the east side of Crummock water which is a beautiful drive. Continuing to Low Lorton tuning right on the B5292 to Winlatter Pass stopping here. Then continueing to Braithwaite back to keswick onto the A66 where we will turn right on the Troutbeck turn off A5091 which is a great drive back toward Ullswater back on the A592 back to Penrith.
