Lacquer Repair

I have a small patch on the plastic front bumper where the lacquer seems to have lifted and created a bubble.

I've seen a couple of DIY video repairs on You Tube, but the results seem too good to be true.
Anyone attempted a similar repair, or have any magical tips??

Yes, the best tip is to get it professionally repaired.

You might get a "reasonable" repair from a local chips-away type of repairer, but you may find after a bit of weathering, you'll be able to see where the repair was.

A proper bodyshop will repair it properly and lacquer the whole panel. Plus you'll get rid of any other damage/stone chips, etc.

Depends on what you want out of it.

Do it yourself and hope you are good at it
Get a mobile company in, they dont have the ideal conditions i.e. sealed premises, temp controlled, etc. but modern mobile units do a fantastic job and they usually give time limited guarantees if it fails within that time period too
Take it to a bodyshop usually gets the best outcome in terms of quality and longevity (although there are crap bodyshops out there too!) but you will pay the premium for it

If you are keeping the car vs selling it next week that affects what approach you take

I had a mobile repair on a previous car and he did the whole panel as well for free, repaired all the stone chips etc. was a nice surprise when I returned to the car!
