Lack of places to put things

Probably been commented in before, but the lack of places to put things in my E85 is a pain. When you have phone, glasses (and sunglasses), wallet, keys, there aren’t any decent size spaces up front to put these safely. It’s a pain having to stick them in the center cubby behind you every time, and the door pockets are to small for pretty much anything. 1st world problems I know but irritating

Its a fair comment and yes it is unlike any other car I've been in, let alone owned. It makes an MX-5 feel spacious and practical (despite it being a smaller car). I think if you used it every day you'd get used to it and adapt, however.

Have you got the footwell nets? They'll take a packet of TicTacs or so.

If you're not one of the 'look at all my speakers' brigade then there are two huge storage areas behind the seats.

Yep, have used the storage bins behind the seats, it’s just somewhere to “chuck” things like phone etc would have been useful.

Some, including me have installed first aid boxes under both seats but I rarely store anything in them. Cases for glasses go neatly beside the handbrake, phone in pocket and travelling light

There is very little storage space but I've also fitted a 2nd First Aid box under my driver's seat.

And in a Coupe you get a sunglasses holder above the rearview mirror - or more accurately a sunglasses ejector! :lol:

If you've not already got a net in the footwell, then get a couple off ebay. If you have one, then get another for the driver's side - just fit it nearer the seat within easy reach. Plenty of capacity for phone and glasses case.

Ok, have started looking as mine doesn’t have the footwell nets. Most on eBay seem to be black, anyone seen any beige ones, as my interior is beige

Check out this site. leatherz.com I have this storage box installed in my 05 Zed and it does give more storage space. It attaches with Velcro tape so can be removed it necessary. The company is located here in the US so may take some time for shipping etc. But I do like the extra space.

Never had an issue following comprehensive planning and optimising of in-car resources! I can't think of anything else I'd have that couldn't be chucked behind a seat or in the boot for the trip

Phone: mounted
Wallet: slimmed down to 6 cards in card holder with folded cash. Easy in any front pocket even for a fatty in slim jeans.
Ray bans: front of drivers door pocket
Extra Keys: change holder
Change: ashtray
Pocket sized tissues: rear of door pocket
Tissue box: behind passenger seat
Charging cables: integrated to hidden socket, passenger's end in net.
Water bottle: tucked next to seat. Definitely not in cupholders, which shall never be opened in my ownership
Temporary items: (e.g. parking ticket) - under handbrake
Glove box: Insurance and breakdown info; Hand sanitiser; pack of face masks; sun cream (100ml); back up driving glasses; emergency fruit mentos
Centre storage: Leatherman; OBD code reader; interior wipes, sound generator foam. Still full of CD and Nav units to be removed
Boot corner: Halford professional mini socket set, tyre gunk and pump
Other corner: Emergency microfibre towel
Random garage purchases: passenger seat, footwell or wife.

Now that’s planning. Also: what are you doing in my car?! Apart from the mentos (which are actually a good idea…) it’s a spot-on list of items to carry and where!

Indeed, you are in my car too. I store some more (food/drinks) in the first aid boxes under both seats.

@bumpyz4, how did you fit the x3 storage unit, I like the look of that. Also the additional first aid box might be an idea.

If you do decide to look for another first aid box just make sure you also get the metal bracket that attaches to the bottom of the seat with 3 self-tappers - can't remember now if they have allen heads or star-drive ones.
