L DRIVERS

Fully appreciate that all unqualified drivers need to gain road experience and obviously I must have been one a long time ago.
Lately it seems that in the area we live you will encounter at least 5 or 6 within a mile trying to do three point turns in the most ridiculous and often dangerous places, traffic held up in both directions, attempts to park behind a stationary car. Chaos sometimes.
I would have thought by now instructors would find a non public road or place to practice the basics of stopping, starting, reversing into parking places, three point turns etc BEFORE letting them loose on the public.
Maybe its me (other half thinks so) but I am less tolerant when I have stop and wait for someone to practice. When the basics are mastered, sure allow them onto the roads to get DRIVING experience and not parking experience.
I should add that most of my local driving is done during normal work hours (say 0900 - 1600).
Anyone else experiencing the same?

We all have to learn but my instructor took me on a a quiet road to practice all that stuff until I was competent to go on busier roads.
I'm quite patient actually unless I'm in a rush.

Totally agree.

I've seen so many learners who haven't even mastered clutch control and are already on to manoeuvres.

People always say you were one once. But I can honestly say I was never as bad as most of the ones I encounter these days. Im guessing you come across so many because the roads yours using are test routes.

You could be right about being a test route, hadn't thought of that, it is a fairly quiet residential area we live. What does upset me though, is halfway through a 3 or 5? point turn and I'm sitting there impatiently, you'll sometimes get obscure hand signals from the instructor telling me pass either in front or behind him, the learner probably has the car in gear and could very easily take their foot off the clutch while you are passing! Bingo who's to blame?
Wish I had one of those dash cameras so I could post a few on here.

Get one! My dad bought one off ebay for about 20 quid and works well. He's a taxi driver.... seen some interesting things lmao.

Yeah, I was behind one the other day, when they went through one of those light up speed detector things it flashed up 12mph!(in a 30)-when I was learning my instructor took me to quiet industrial estates on a weekend, but likes been said we have all been there.

Its not just learner drivers that are a pain. Some middle age men and women are in need of a retest. I think they have either forgotten how to drive or the rules of the road dont apply to them.

The more I drive in London the less tolerant I become of every other road users, espically idiots on borris bikes who think the road is somesort of cylce path and you can go where you want
But I dont mind learners

I just overtook one that stopped behind a car that parked on the left. There were no cars coming the other way. As I passed the hesitant bint I saw that it was the instructor driving. There was no learner in the car!
