Ready for a rant.
Went into kwik fit (what a joke slow fit ) to have a puncher repaired on my company vehicle today only to be told “ yes sir can book it in for 11:00 o’clock tomorrow loads of use when I have a flat tire. The tyre guy was sat behind the desk looking run off his feet not. Is it just me or are kwik fit always just looking for a reason not to be helpful. Don’t like to be judgemental but this is the second time in a month they have been Pr-cks ahhh.
Rant over & relax

I have to correct you there my man, the name is Kwik crap. THE most useless set of jokers, only it’s not a joke when they ‘Work’, and I use that in its most loosest term, on your car. Cross threaded wheel nuts, bolts, paint and lacquer knocked off wheels with clumsy handled air guns, cars and SUV’s jacked up on their ally diff casings, tyres inflated to whatever pressure they can be arsed to inflate them too, the only guarantee being that it won’t be the correct pressure, and ripping off stranded ladies with steam rising out of the car bonnet on a Sunday afternoon by telling her she needs a new water pump that they can fit for £350 when in fact it was a split in a hose that I replaced with a spare section of hose I had for nothing.

Utter dipshits, not fit to inflate a kiddies bike tyre. I guess if you pay peanuts......you know the rest. :x :wkr:

Except, it is not peanuts one pays. :x

Are they still going. :o They were always cr#p. A bit like going to a Mac Donald's for a meal. :? Or Ratner's for an Engagement ring.

Used them once - and that was as it was lockdown and had a flat tyre in the Jeep. I really don't like the place ...

to be fair my experience of the Chester branch is ok, only ever used them once for tyre fitting on the daily when they had an offer on Cross Climates but they were polite, quick and did a good job. They helped some old boy out with a puncture while i was waiting with minimal fuss even though it was appointment only. Not sure I'd have them doing much else but for tyres in my experience they were ok

I see the Sarcasm Society membership was worth it then John? :poke:

Well I must say I’ve also used them for a puncture repair on my Q3 about 3 years ago, Sunday afternoon when the low pressure warning came on, phoned them up and was told to come straight down, the fitter did an excellent job of the repair, no marks on wheel and correct tyre pressure

  Actually i didn't check the pressures :D

At the other end of the scale - Guys at National Tyres in Strood have always accommodated a puncture repair walk-in very promptly & without damage on 3 separate occasions over the last 15 years...

A couple of years ago I took my car to Kwik Fit to have two front tyres changed, I pointed out that the wheels were in fairly good condition, although they did have a few marks on them and asked them to be careful. They informed me they were insured against damage.

When they had put the tyres on, they told me that they had slightly damaged one of the wheels. They then arranged to have that wheel refurbished, with a local (reputable) paint shop. However, the colour, when it came back, was slightly different. They agreed without fuss to have all 4 wheels refurbished to the same colour. Although it was disappointing that the wheel was damaged in the first place, I could not fault their service, and actually, I benefited because the wheels when finished looked a lot better than before.

A month or so ago I got a flat tyre and as it happened I was a few miles from Kwik Fit. I got there at 5 pm on a Friday evening, and they said that they would do the repair straight away. Even though I didn't run with the tyre flat, the wall had split by the time I got there and so it was ruined. They didn't have two of the tyres I wanted in stock (I wanted to swap both tyres on the same axel) but said they would get them in the following morning and call me as soon as the car was done. They spent time reassuring me that the keys would be locked away and the car would be looked after. I was concerned as I now have OEM CSL wheels and so obviously I don't want these refurbishing, I pointed out my concerns and as a precaution, they photographed every wheel as evidence of their perfect condition.

The following day around 10 they called to say the car was ready and the chap who fitted the tyres told me that he had also balanced the rear wheels as he could see that the tread was roughly 50% down and he felt they would benefit from it. He didn't charge me for this. When I price checked their tyres, with fitting they were very slightly more expensive than Black Circles fitted, (only a few pounds and with black circles I would be waiting days)

So although I have had the same concerns as many people about Kwik Fit, and perhaps some would say this was justified after they damaged a wheel on my first visit, I have been happy with my experience with them. Personally, I would never have tyres fitted at any garage that didn't have the latest equipment and wasn't insured (and prepared to claim on it) and in my experience this kind of rules out the majority of businesses that aren't part of a bigger group.

Anyway, just my experience and as such I would certainly recommend the Brighouse KwikFit centre. :)

I imagine it's one of those places where it's s**t to work, probably not very well paid either, which then breeds bad culture.

Well, the Porsche dealer damaged one of my rear wheels during the tyre change so they forked out for a £1250 wheel and gave me the old one as Porsche does not recommend repairing ...

With minor damage they are £1k each on eBay so here I go :)

I’ve had nothing but top service from Kwik-Fit in Barnstaple.

They’ve always helped me out and sometimes not even charged me.

Only thing I’d note though is to order your tyres on their website and get fitted in branch as their in store prices are high.

Unfortunately they don’t fit black circles and don’t always have specific tyres online so I’ve had black circles go to ATS a few times.

Very honest as well, unlike a branch of Bathwick tyres who sometimes always seem to make it that you need new tyres.

I think it’s down to the experience you get. If you get a bad experience then you immediately go for the stereotype reputation that these places have, yet if you have a good experience you tell everyone the stereotype isn’t true in my situation, like I am now.

It’s like people who think BMW drivers are all tw@ts who don’t use their indicators.....oh, that’s me, scrub that analogy.
