Kwik Fit, Scarborough

Recently needed a new set of tyres for my wife's E92. Checked on all the websites and found Kwik Fit the cheapest by far if you purchased and paid online. No other website or dealer could match the price (Camskill were nearly £300 more expensive). Posted this comment on another thread and various responses suggested not trusting the ability of Kwik Fit tye fitters to do a good job.

So today at my appointed time I arrived at Quick Fit Scarborough to find my tyres waiting ready in a clean fitting bay. Sat and watched the process which was removal of wheels uising a wheel brace (not an air tool which can damage the wheel). Careful fitting of each tyre. Replacement using a wheel brace and then a torque wrench to tighten in the proper sequence (opposing nuts etc).

Good service - YOU BET

Did you get them to inspect the wheels for any damage before they started work?

Yes - had a look myself!

This is half the battle, if fitters check them with you they will always take more care.

Still wouldn't use Kwik Fit myself though.

I know I pay more for the dealer to change the tyres (I supply them myself), but they gave me a free wheel when they damaged one.

Don't think I could get that done by a KwikFit outlet ...

Must be regional variations in thier professionalism..... took the other half's TT into Kwikfit today for four tyres, waited for what seemed like forever for them to get round to it. Went for a walk for an hour and found they were still not done and the fitter said he was doing them next. Went for another walk and arrived back to find the car on the forecourt (09 Plate white TT, a chav's wet dream) with the window down and the keys in the ignition, radio playing. Price was the best we could find but that was about all i could say in recommendation.

The danger is when 'we' find a bad dealer we tar them all with the same brush - just look at the comments on dealer feedback for BMW! Too easy to do - perhaps we should give credit when and where it's due more often. I saw some attrocious driving by a Zed owner the other day but that doesn't mean to say all Zed drivers are cr*p OR does it.......?

Quite true................ it was a coincedence that i had been to a Kwikfit the same morning as I saw the posting yet we had experienced different levels of service

Never been a fan of Kwik fit and the like perfering to use the smaller independent guys i'd rather give them my hard earned rather than the corporate big boys.

A few years back i took a van to a kwik fit as the van had an oil leak and they said it was the oil pump and a new one would be £200,after speaking to my gaffer he wasn't willing to pay that as the van was been traded in the following week.We ended up taking the van to a indy and if i recall the bill came to about £50 a couple of seals and a bit of labour.

I think we're losing site that this is feedback for Kwik Fit, Scarborough... not the shambles that is their national network.

That said, it is worth noting that this is very much a diamond in the rough situation, not an endorsement of KwikFit on the whole :P

And yes, I wouldn't touch them (KwikFit) with yours.

I've used Kwik Fit in many different locations and found them to be very good. The only issue is if I take a company car in and for some reason they only have the most expensive tyre option in stock. Quality of tyre fitting has been first class. I wouldn't use them for anything else though as I don't think they are specialised enough.

I always use kwik fit Scarborough for the annual oil change on my 10 year old ford focus.

£29.99 Cant complain and they always seem proffessional.

You can never say "kwik fit is rubbish" workmanship is only as good as the guy doing it. Id rather an experienced kwik fit fitter did my service than a 17 yr old BMW apprentice allocated the dogsbody work of oil changes.
