evening,

i'm thinking of the kw range of coilovers? are they worth the cash? looking to replace the eibachs on my car with something like this so any thoughts appreciated.

cheers

Clubsports are one of the best things I've done to my Z. More than suitable for the road as well as track.

how easy is it to adjust the ride height etc?

if you are asking ,you probably wont be able to do your self anyway

everyone can learn something new, so not sure I understand your point, but thanks nevertheless.

Suspension is a dark art. Get it set up correctly and leave it alone. That was how I have always dealt with my motorbike suspension, I don't see car suspension any differently.
KW get great write ups, a number of hire firms over in Germany who rent out for the Nurburgring use it. Buy it, get it set up right and leave it be, don't worry about ride height.

Just my twopenneth

i have kw clubsport range, very expensive but and insane difference on the handling side of things.... imo the CS aren't the most road friendly, they are track suspension really using linear race springs, the non track biased stuff gets rave reviews for road use........... however i love mine and Love the feel on road and track.....

thanks. was thinking v2 or v3, seem to get the better reviews, there are cheaper kits but they seem a bit sketchy on quality.

Jack the car up, take the wheel off, losen the locking collar, and then the spring platform is adjustable on the threaded body of the shock, by hand, or with supplied spanners if its tight. Pretty simple.

There is more to adjusting the height though than just simply moving the platform, since changing the rake of the car front to back, or getting the balance off between left and right will affect the handling of the car, so ideally you want to get the ride height set, and then corner balance/weight it with a set of scales.

Don't agree about setting suspension once and then leaving it mind you. Sure, you can go with a compromised setup that will be fairly good at all things, but the whole point of an adjustable setup is the adjustment. And certainly if you're looking at Clubsports then you'll benefit from making adjustments depending on the track. The varied and bumpy circuit at the Nordschleife for example will suit an almost fast road setup, invariably softer, but going to somewhere like Silverstone, for example, you'd find you can set the damping up much firmer to get more out of the car.

One thing I've never seen with kw is a quality issue , they are very high quality pieces ......

I'd agree, but sadly my first set of KW Clubsports on the rear leaked oil after about 2-3 months of being on the car. However, KW backed up their service with a complete replacement set after I emailed them photos, which considering the Clubsports are not "warrantied" was pretty decent.

The next set have been fine. And generally, like you say, I've never heard a lot of complaints about KW kit. I guess it just happens now and then with anything though, but they did a great job in putting it right.
