Hi Guys

I'm getting annoyed paying Sky a stupid amount for my movies and sport, has anyone on here brought one of these Kodi fire sticks. had a look on eBay and they range around £65-70 and apparently have all the movies and sports on them. a guy down my local said you have to be careful as they need updating constantly as the apps on them get shut down? not sure if that is true or not, if so is it easy to update the stick?

But in general is it worth getting? i have a got a strong internet connection at home so no worries of it buffering.

Many thanks

Jay

ive got one never needed to update it i just bought one a standard one for 30 quid n put kodi on it myself! Great bit of kit, wont be long before you get your pants pulled down for having one though i suspect.

In my option they are slow and clunky, my son has one.

If your technical - use an old pc and install a SSD Hard Drive - (this is what I use)

If not, I would recommend https://www.roku.com/en-gb/products/roku-3

The problem with Kodi, is the streams themselves. I have run it in the past, and ended up clicked on dozens of streams for a particular film/programme, only to get the "stream not found" or other error. Also, have been halfway through a programme and the stream has gone down.

Currently have another solution in place that gives me everything including recordings and live pause etc.

IMO, there are other ways of getting what you want for less than Sky etc charge, but discussion of such is frowned upon in here.

Google is your friend :)

If you do go down the Kodi/Firestick/Roku route, don't buy from Ebay, you can get a device yourself and install the (free) software. The Ebayers are doubling their money for 10 mins work.

I have had one about 18 months..Updated once.

If you give the latest films a week or two to get the good streams up and running then its great,HD quality too..Sports can be a bit flaky, but depends on what you want to watch..

I have the beast build on mine and it works a treat..

Whats the beast build? is that the best one to have? Sorry im not technical when it comes to software. give me a spanner any day but not a computer lol.

Oh ok so i can just buy a stick myself for £30 and put the software on. do i have to jail break the stick? I will have a look on youtube :)

Cheers guys! think i will defo try it out. i got used to watching dodgy streams off my Macbook (like you say give it couple of weeks and the streams become better quality)

No need to jailbreak just download the ES file explorer and point that to the kodi website and download kodi straight to the fire to stick, there are lots of videos on you tube showing you how.

Awful things - bought one and it was constantly needing updating and the streams were poor too - went back to Sky for £19/month including the Sports!
