knocking noise in hood area.

In the last week I have noticed a knocking noise when I go over bumps in the road. It sounds like a nut or something bouncing around inside the area where the hood goes when it's down. I've put the hood down and the noise goes away. Has anyone any ideas what it can be or how I can access this area to see if there is something there. Cheers
 
Oh dear. Just looked again and it appears that from the top of the wheel to the bottom of the wheel arch it's around half an inch lower than on the other side. It could be the camber of the road but I doubt it! Just hoping tha it is covered under Waranty with BMW, as I got it second hand from them, and has about four months of Waranty left on it unless they say it's down to wear and tear. How comes you havent had yours repaired?
 
Jamie, rear spring failure is common on the Z4 along with other BMW's, if you have a BMW warranty it wont be a problem.
