Still worth checking the firewall brace torque - 32nm IIRC.

Are we looking at where the brace joins the bulkhead? What about the 3 nuts on the strut top itself. I've had a quick fiddle and all the nuts (bulkhead and strut top) are not terribly tight. I easily turned at least 3/4 of a turn with a socket

Those are the ones. Don't over tighten them though as they are prone to shearing from what I have read. I had a bit of a knock (like you describe) and creak - tightening them up disappeared it
