Knocking front end

Just been out in the car and as soon as I pulled off my drive I heard a clonk from under the front somewhere. Did it a couple of times whilst driving but not corresponding to pot holes or anything. When I returned home I reversed onto the drive with virtually full left hand lock and it clonked again :? Anything obvious before I drop it into Autotech our local Indy

Strut supports to the bulkhead, check the bolts are tight and torqued.

Not to hand, but a search will bring it up. Its been posted many times.

Other options of course are more suspension related.

In a way I'm hoping it is some bush or other that once fixed will make it handle better. I realise its on run-flats but it really is dire!

Lolly pop bushes ARB bushes? Give the front wheel rotate if the is lots of play that's the problem.

Common where problem on the zed. Easy enough to do.

I think I would like to completely re-bush the whole front end. Is it best to go OEM or poly bush performance route?

The meyle stiff is supposed to be good.

I went the powerflex rote as I got all the bits at a good price on hear. I got an M3 font anti roll bar off mrlozer if you can get one of them do it!! Made a big difference to :driving:

I have standard new bushes and nylon ARB Bushes (not powerflex but similar).......... Huge difference just replacing the bushes. You say The M3 roll bar is worth the investment Machine monkey?

The Knock is probably the strut braces as TT2FN says. I had this recently. Torque setting.......sensibly tight for the size of thread

I think so Toe-side.....

But I did replace bushes and lower the car at the same time!! But turn in feels great and much less body roll. I am sure you could get one cheap of eBay? The one I had has been re- powder coated and you will need bigger ARB bushes. The rear ones don't fit by the way :(

Thanks. I think that will be on next winters Mod list.
Mine is lowered also.
Off to test its capabilities (or mine I should say) at Cadwell Park on Monday. The track looks a real challenge! :)

Never heard of this make. So what's the deal with the M3 ARB Mm? Does it stiffen the front end up ?

Yes yes and yes it dose :) if your replacing bushes you might as well try it?? If you get a second hand one sand blast it up and get it powder coated. If your going to the midlands meet and have one by then. let me have it I can sandblast it got you.

I need to do a track day soon. Enjoy Monday buddy

I've got a knocking noise coming from my front and it's the ARB droplink that needs replacing...

Still worth checking the firewall brace torque - 32nm IIRC.
Are we looking at where the brace joins the bulkhead? What about the 3 nuts on the strut top itself. I've had a quick fiddle and all the nuts (bulkhead and strut top) are not terribly tight. I easily turned at least 3/4 of a turn with a socket
