Knockhill Summer Track Day

Afternoon fellow z4 owners!!

Trying to gauge some interest to see if anyone would fancy in participating in a private track night at Knockhill, Dunfermline :driving:

Nothing is booked as of yet until we confirm enough numbers, reckon 20-25 cars. I'll probably cap it at 25 that way the track is never too busy and gives everyone a chance to learn and drive their car to their own capabilities.

Typically a 2 hour session, plenty of time to go out and enjoy the car and get in enough laps. If there's enough interest we can see in extending to 3 hours but that will reflect in cost.

From memory cost per driver would be around £80ish per car+driver for 2 hour slot. Don't quote me on that until I can confirm with knockhill themselves if we gauge enough interest, but its been around 3 years since I've last booked a track night so prices may have changed since then. Additional drivers can be added, cannot remember if knockhill charge for extra drivers but all of this can be confirmed

If you're interested just pop your name on the list so we can get the ball rolling and proceed from there and I will keep everyone updated as we go along

Hi,

I'd be up for that! Will non Zed's be allowed?

I hired Knockhill 8 years ago for my stagger and was fantastic having just 20 cars on track, made it a lot more relaxing.I'm used to to TrackScotland events and they were 40-50 cars if I recall correctly.

Used to spend hours up at Knockhill, when I was stationed up at HMS Cochrane. Long way off these days. Enjoy :driving:

Yes non zed cars will be allowed on!! :driving:

Looking at a possibly June/early July obviously that's depending on how busy their schedule is looking

If there is more than enough numbers and interest I guess we could possibly arrange a June and an august event

Possible date suggestions for everyone? It will likely to be a midweek night ie, wednesday or thursday 4-6pm or 5-7pm in case most folk have work and family commitments

I was on some early track scotland events and they were nice and peaceful. Nice to learn the track but then you have the urge to find a car to keep up with

You are all off your heads. I have done a lot of track driving and there is no way I would take my precious Z around there! Have you seen the kerbs at Knockhill??? I remember seeing a guy in tears at a Ferrari track day on seeing the damage to his floor and suspension. :D :D

There was a thread on here a few months ago about a guy who took his Porsche (insert fancy letters and numbers here) on the track at Knockhill and after being off track the front suspension turret had smashed to bits.

Its a fun track day not BTCC
You dont need to drive the kerbs I know I wont be!

Done alot of laps around back in the honda days with zero issues, it's the kitty litter that done it for me not the kerbs

Correct but from speaking to people in the know, the car is basically driven like it was stolen. It seems to be a common issue with the gt4 and gt3 991.1 where the strut tower fails. Spinning off into the litter would only stress on the suspension components so much before it eventually happens to them all.

That being said, not seen a zed with the suspension in the engine bay, so we're in the safe

+1 to that, I watched the below video a few months back and after some research it seems to be a very hush hush common fault
