Kirkstone Pass

We took the Z4 into the lakes yesterday for lunch at Grasmere. The car stayed outside and waited for us but we enjoyed a Welsh rarebit in Baldrys's Tea Room. I can highly recommend the place.

Anyways, on the way home we took the Kirkstone pass. Now its a bit narrow, but my goodness, the views are spectacular and you have to watch out for the local chavs. One tried to overtake in his Corsa and one in a Tranny nearly T-boned us coming out of a field of all places.

Whilst on the subject of challenging drivers. . .on the way to the lakes a Ford S Max towing a caravan tried to smoke me many times on the motorway roundabout. The big roundabout at J40 on the M6. He was even wheel spinning. I started to wonder if he had to leave the Z4 at home and just forgot what he was driving and pulling!

So, if its a nice day and you live within 50 miles, take a look at Grasmere and then the Kirkstone pass.

Sounds like you had a nice day out , love the lakes my favourite place in the UK .

we were up there not so long back for 3 days .went to Grasmere on the way back we drove one end to the other and back again a bit of a made drive wife was moaning at me on some of the bends .stopped and had a bite to eat at Kirkstone pass pub and some good food and a drink .

Winlatter would be quite far down on the list of lakes passes still a good one, Honister is worth a shout!

Love the Lakes passes - favourite for me from a challenge perspective is to go East to West on the Hardnott and Wrynose passes.
Narrow, twisty and a couple of serious gradients :driving:

Just love this area did it many times in my old Z3

Come on then everyone! The Gauntlet is down. Who will be first to identify the idyllic spot correctly!
