Hi Guys,
Sorry this is a pic intensive post.
Thought I would share with you a meet me and a couple of my friends had last weekend in Cheshire. The group is called Kingsley Classics and Future Classics (village near Chester ((the Z being the future classic
) and we all went to University together in Chester. Anyway my two friends are currently restoring a 66 Beetle and an MG midget and I brought the Z along. We drove about 100 miles around Chester, Ellsmere Port, Runcorn and Widnes then we finished at the boat museum in Ellesmere Port where the background drops onto the multiple fuel refineries, giving quite an interesting backdrop. This is where we decided to do a little photo shoot as they were desperate to get some pics of the restoration so far.
I hope to join the group by buying a classic 911 or a 2002, but after just buying the Z and having some more mods in mind for it, the classic will have to wait. It was a great trip we had a right laugh, with the immense power of the Z and the retro classics we made quite a trio, especially on the motorway traveling at the back at about 50mph
The beetle is going through a full restoration, working on the interior first as the engine is new and has fuel injection, and body work is in good order just a few panels to fill and respray but minimal rust. The heating system has caused the usual bug problems with rust, so currently he has been working on the left hand side of the car, the front seat has been removed and all interior carpets the footwell has all been angle grinded and painted. Looks very nice and that's as far as he has got, he's only had the car a couple of weeks. He also has had a new Porsche exhaust fitted, and put an original roof rack on. Other than that it is how he bought it, lowered about 2 inches, chequered headlining, pin striping on the glove compartment by famous pin striping company prosign. Lovely car, you really warm to the car even if you have no interest in beetles.
Similar the Midget is going through the same process, engine is done and working perfectly, interior is also complete now he is working on the bodywork which does need a fair amount of attention. Also a lovely car, thing that caught my eye was the steering wheel a lovely Moto Lita.
And the M.
Mods on my M are: all round wheel refurb (gunmetal grey), painted the callipers orange, engine strut brace, carbon fibre rear spoiler, H&R lowering springs, stubby arial, sat nav update, BMW badge under the bonnet, tinted windows and skid plates.
Mods for the future are some kind of induction kit not decided yet, having the roof re-sprayed black, 19" CSL alloys re-sprayed gunmetal grey and thats it.
Then as we were driving back the Beetle cut out....
The Beetle was set up for summer so with it being a bit damp it cut out, simple to fix with just changing the mixtures but got the AA out anyway to check it over.. gave me a fun photo opportunity anyway!!
Please ignore how dirty the Z is it had travelled from Cumbria and done over 300miles along motorways, back roads, snow and mud etc etc by the time we got to the shoot so wasn't in its best shape but had no time to clean the car as time was short and so was light.
Anyway here are some pics.
Enjoy
