Kimi to Ferrari

I think it will be good for Ferrari. Sometimes I think Alonso doesn't always but his back into it. He's too used to being top dog. Plus he's 32 now and if he isn't careful he'll be on his way out soon. I'm sure he was lobbying hard for that Red Bull drive behind the scenes. He has nowhere else to go to now. He won't go back to Mclaren, Mercedes look settled, Red Bull are sorted for the time being.

Time for him to roll his sleeves up, put his ego to one side and get on with the racing. Not sure he will do though, and the news that he's just invested €5m in a pro-cycling team is perhaps evidence that he'll hang his helmet up in the not too distant future.

So do we think Kimi going to play the No.2 role?... me thinks not as well as Massa

BBC will have fun censoring that out if they ever dare to ask him. haha. Maybe a bit of input from a fresh driver will help the team with set-up and development because since Alonso started, the car has been nothing but a dog really.

I always think Alonso keeps something in reserve, especially in qualifying. He's a brilliant driver but I just get the sense he only drives at ten tenths when he feels like it, which isn't that often. An Alonso "on it" is right up there with Hamilton and Vettel for pace.

I'm beginning to wonder if Alonso will also leave Ferrari sooner rather than later. Kimi and Hulkenburg before 2015?

Andi.

I couldn't disagree more. I'm no big Alonso fan but he, more than most, can wring a decent performance out of an average car.

I'm not saying he can't - quite the opposite, I'm saying he can. I'm just saying I don't think he does it enough. Nor does his boss either.

Interestingly did anyone see the interview on sat/sun between Eddie Jordan and Luca Di Montezemolo? He went on to mention Alonso is the best driver in a car (irrespective of results), big statement to make considering past drivers they've had. Looking forward to this line up, but to be honest who knows what it's going to be like with 4-pot turbos and very restricted fuel to play with

4-Pot in WTCC.

Andi.

I welcome any change to drivers or cars to shake newey and vettel from this run of four championships

I would hope that if anything it will ensure both drivers are constantly pushing for the best. I never used to like Alonso but these past few seasons I have appreciated the fact that he constantly drags that ferrari into positions which it is really not fas enough for.

Hamilton and Button pushed each other well at Mclaren, since Hamiltons departure something is missing from that car, it cannot be 100% the cars fault, I suspect Hamiltons inputs for testing and set up played a key role.

+2 I felt the same about Ferrari and Schumacher, Loeb and Citroen, there's been many in other forms of the sport too.

Funnily enough Rossi and Yamaha, Foggerty and Ducati didn't give the same feeling.

+1

Me too, although it will take a very good Ferrari for either Alonso or Raikkonen to challenge them. It's going to be interesting to see how the two of them get along.

Vettel is undoubtedly a good driver but his life has been made much easier by having the best car - it's no fun watching someone scamper away from pole and cruise through the race, hopefully the rule changes next season will move F1 away from being so heavily influenced by aero performance and put more onus on the skill of the driver.

I firmly believe that part of the reason that F1 has become more 'boring' is down to F1's desire to increase reliability in order to cut costs - the racing was much more exciting when, for example, there were no rev limits on the engines as you'd often get several engine failures during the weekend which added to the unpredictability

don;t know why 4-pot came out of my mouth there ( think it my fear of soon all our nice 6 and 8 pots will be relics of the past, and my gripe with all the 4-pot turbos on the road :poke: )

Wish they'd chosen the Hulk but this will definitely be interesting

This is only a short-ish deal so I've read, so maybe hulken' in the future when kimi has thrown in the towel. Livens things up.

It's definitely interesting, I think this might be the push that stops vettel getting drivers c'ship #5...

...also imagine the banter alo/kimi will have
