Kidney grill change

Another black z4 parked next to mine at the dealers has black grills with a chrome surround, not sure yet but think I prefer them to my all chrome 1's. Anybody know if you can just buy these off the shelf and if so roughly how much and how easy are they to change as don't want to be snapping anything?

Thanking you if anyone knows.

Nice and easy to change, sometimes available on here and Ebay.
OEM are around £100 a pair
There is a one page OEM service sheet somewhere on the forum tells you how to remove/replace, sorry can't find it.

I know Lux has done this, he told me it was very simple.

Maybe he will give some advice if you drop him a PM?

This is what I was looking for. Easy

NO, my mistake didn't see E89 heading. imagine its not too dissimilar though.

I'm sure Lux told me that there is a little bit more to it than the above. I think it requires lifting the bonnet and removing something or other in order to get at the retaining clips from the inside.

Where are you when we need you Lux? :D

I've got a set of the original e89 black centres with chrome surrounds in the garage, from when I put my all black ones in. Where are you based?

Here!

It's a little trickier on an e89 but still easy to do.

This should help...

I had the standard chrome/black and swapped to the gloss black which looks loads better IMO.

It was a PITA and had the red marks on the forearm for ages. It's easy once you get the first one off. Just a pain due to lack of space between the front and radiator. Lots of small screwdrivers help.

Mike bought me new grills within two days of having the car, I've never fitted them, neither have I let him loose near the car with them to fit them. I quite like the silver ones

I prefer the silver one's too

Hey thanks so much for all the guides on how to change them, very kind of you all to make such an effort.

I pick the car up Monday so will have a look in the flesh and then decide.

The Dude I'm near Bakewell in the Peak District, I'll give you a shout if I change and you can tell me what you want for them.

Cheers all, have a good rest of the weekend. :)
